I finally got a couple of pics of the turkeys! They were busy eating the corn and sunflower seeds that I put out for the, They took the "bait". It is a little foggy here this morning so the pic isn't the best. But I think it makes it look more life like.
Hooray! Do you rear them? City dweller like me do not get to see turkey, but enjoy them during Christmas, unless I go to the zoo! I guess they must be hungry ...
I make some pretty good stuffing and dressing to go with that dinner. great pic! i like the fog look.
Song, they are wild turkey. The state released 15 pair, 2 years ago. There are 8 in this group and at least 2 are toms. In the picture, the 2 standing straight up are hens. the 2 that are eating ar toms. A little later I am going to take some fresh apple peel out and put it down for them.
I love the dark quality of your photo, it looks like it's a painting made by one of the old Dutch masters. I'm glad you managed to photograph them, they're lovely birds. (Got hungry now, need to find something to eat.)
I think they look so much better out in the wild like that than overstuffed and stuck in barns to fatten them for the table. Your patience has certainly paid off.
what a wonderful pics capt kirk! our local school did a similar releasing of turkeys project many years ago, and now they're in abundance here. they used to come around when i fed our ducks at night...really close! i love hearing their 'gobble gobble gobble' voices in the fields all day long!
Great pictures, Capt. I agree with Droopy, I like the misty background. I hope they do as well as the flocks we had in the hills of upstate NY. There had to be at least 50 of them at a time feeding in the corn fields across from my mother's house. Gardengater
