I found these little guys on my Butterfly bushes last week. Earlier this week, I saw one eatting a fly! So I let them stay. But this morning I saw a huge very colorful butterfly having her lunch at this bush. I suddenly thought of the fly and thought maybe I should find out if its a friend or foe.

sorry for the bad pics but these little guys are very camera shy and really quick.

Mmmm they look almost like the larval stage of something. If they're eating bugs I'd leave them - I don't think they'll take butterflies but may take caterpillars. Hope someone else can ID them for you.
