With fall upon us here tomorrow, we decided to move all my greenhouse plants inside to their new place.
We put up 3 shelves in front of the east window.
Most of the top shelf holds almost all my coleus. there's close to 34 coleus plants, 7 more root plants starting in water and 2 more a neighbor just give me.

These next set of shelves are about a foot out in front of my new ones. They mostly hold my geraniums, almost 12 or more. There's 2 in pots on the bottom left that I'll be replanting in pots of their own.

Now this next one are shelves that face the south window with lighting if I want to use it at any time. They hold atleast 18 of my caladiums.

Here's how the front and south shelves look together:

Here is the perfect spot where I'll insert:
Hello my name is petunia and I have a problem. I'm a plantaholic. I realize I can't stop growing new plants. I just can't bare the thought of just throwing them away. If a branch breaks off I usually will put it in water till it grows root then give it a new home in a pot of its own. Can anyone help me with this obsession, its out of
    control. :stew1: :stew2: ;)

Wow Petunia you certainly are a plantaholic. They do all look healthy and happy to be in your care.

Do you put those in large pots or in the ground in the spring then repot and bring then in for the winter?

Most will stay in pots. The Geraniums I like to mix other annuals. I do have 4 Lantana plants that were in the ground this year and are said to be annual here. But because of their woody stem and already having new sprouts I dug them up and brought them in the house. We'll see how they do and put them in the gound come spring.

    Wholy Cow!!!

I wish I had your space!
I wish I had your windows!
But I am glad that I don't have that many "children" to take care of!!!
That has got to be almost a full time job in itself!!

When I was younger and still living with my parents I used to propogate the heck out of my moms houseplants until finally she put her foot down and said "NO MORE ROOM!!"

    Great Job "Toonie" ;)

    you make us plantaholics proud!!!

Wow! *trying to fetch my jaw back up from the floor* I say, do you have a full-time indoors gardener tucked away in that room of yours too? What an amazing sight. My fingers are starting to itch like mad now. I'd love to have a walk around that room of yours and study your babies. :D

I'm afraid that once you become a plantaholic Petunia there's no hope for you. :( I've been one for nearly 40 years and no-one has found a cure for me yet!!

I really love your plant shelves but when I showed them to Ian he flatly refused to build me any. :'( He says the house already looks like a jungle and he's not having any more plants creeping inside. Isn't he a real meanie? :p

tell him he really doesn't have to actually build any if you have an empty window space or spareroom then just have to stack lumber on bricks such as we did on that east window. No work involved. hee hee.
My kids were telling me I had too many plants throughout the house so..when they moved out I just moved my plants in and now have them all in one room.

Sure wish I had all that space to bring my babies indoors for the winter!
I have to resort to a make-shift greenhouse. We have an old camping tent and just set it up and put the plants inside for the winter. Works really well too. Can vent it, water plants and keep an eye on them. And when it gets close to freezing, I just run out a drop light and zip it up tight!

Dear, oh dear, oh dear...Those plant shelves are terrific, petunia. :)
You have thought that out quite well. What a splendid idea you had to set those up that way... 'twas a stroke of genius, that.
Plantaholics like you the world could use more of. ;)

What a great idea! Gee, it should just be a few more years before my oldest moves out, then I can turn her room into a plant room :D

What a great set up you have. Thanks for sharing. I've been thinking about turning my office into an office/green room instead of an office/storage room. You've really inspired me with some good ideas.

Nice looking shelves. I haven't see those block and board shelves since my husband was in college. That's how we and just about everyone we knew back then stored their books and music.

I don't have your super terrific window but I've got one really good South facing window with enough area to meet my needs. I've been wondering how to put this together for some time. Thanks, now I can see how it can work.
