Last night we went to an Igloo building party. How can you build an Igloo in north Texas when winter doesn't provide the necessary building supplies? We build them with marshmallows and icing of course.

The hosts had bought two bags of large marshmallows and one bag of mini-marshmallows for each guest just in case some husbands and wives were more comfortable working separately. There were all sorts of decorations to use, small animals, snowmen, trees, wreaths, candy canes and you could bring your own props if you wished.

After all the igloos were completed we all walked around the house looking at each one, then we were given a ballot with categories like....Most Humorous, Most Christmasy, Most Architecturally Challenged, Best of Show and my personal favorite.....Most Warped.

When the votes were totaled the one Randy and I built was awarded by a 'landslide' The Most Warped.
Our's is titled 'The Beginning of the Ice Age"

The Ice Age has begun, the Dinosaurs are hungry and these have found dinner.....

The attack began with the Teradactyl ripping the roof off the igloo of the unsuspecting Snowman and tearing his head off.

You can see the poor snowman's body still inside the igloo soon to be feasted on by the T-Rex about to go thru the door of the igloo. The other T-Rex has decided that the Teradactyl really needs to share the snowman's head with him or even better, he will take it all for himself.

We received a Certificate and two trophies.

Next years theme is Sleighs...and we already have a warped idea for that one too. ;)

:D :D That's too funny. That poor snowman never saw it coming. It looks like you two had a lot of fun building that. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Great theme! I'm so glad you didn't go with the trite and went straight for the terrible!
For next year, you might want to listen to the song, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer". It might be inspirational. Do the rules allow background music?

I knew you all would appreciate the theme we went with. Everyone else did standard igloos with seals, walrus, snowmen, etc.

We thought about that song MG, but then we remembered something else we read somewhere and are now looking for it so we can use it as our story line. Even better than Grandma ;)

Love it Toni!! Your igloo appeals to my 'warped' sense of humour. Wish I'd thought that one up for myself. :D :D
    Congratulations.

This is the basis for our entry for next years Sleigh building competition. It was was written by Dave Peterson of Victoria B.C. It took top honors in the children's literature category of the 10th annual Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest for wretched writing.

"Santa, bruised and bloodied from his encounter with a mountain peak, surveyed the damage: his sled a write-off, the presents hopelessly scattered, and 50 days hike to the North Pole, but at least he had lots of venison."

It's a shame we have to wait a whole year, we have so many ideas taking shape already.

Somehow I don't find it surprising that you guys came up with the most warped entry :D One question: why are the dinosaurs eating the snowman, made of snow, when eating the marshmallows would provide them with more energy for hunting?

Picky, picky, picky  Besides real igloos are made of snow too, so they are going to starve anyway ;)

When I saw this title, I shivered, remembering the Igloo we made when I was a kid. I shivered because we were not very accomplished Igloo builders, and the roof fell in on us. We were picking snow out of our necks and everywhere you can imagine, for the rest of the day. Your igloo is much more suited to my current status, and eating yours looks way more fun than eating ours was.

Keeping the roof up was a problem for several of the igloos there. We did eat quite a few of the marshmallows, had to the right look for the top row, I don't think I want to eat another one for a long time.
