Hi I'm Kate. Live in NE Pennsylvania. Anyone here into making Primitive Crafts like I am? Prim Hearts ( photo / image / picture from Frugalkate's Garden )
I make soft toys, greetings cards, calendars etc but have never tried primitive art before. I would love to see more of your work Kate. :-D
Kate, any craft I try turns out primitive, you could even say Stone Age! I love your hearts and would like to see more of what you make. Just because I can't, doesn't mean I can't appreciate!
You hearts are very nice, they look really great in the wooden bowl I love the primitive look, when I was making quilts I made several primitive styles. My painting style is somewhere between primitive and 2nd grade but I enjoy it.
They are really easy to make. Just cut out the fabric, stain it with a tea/coffee stain to age it, then sew the seams leaving one side open so you can stuff them with pollyfill, then sew that side up when finished stuffing. Add a rusted safety pin, bell or a button and then a tea/coffee stained hang tag. Stick 'em in a bowel or basket - they make Great Gifts too!
Hi Kate, All I would have to do is handle the fabric and it would be stained. Just to prove that, check out the pupae post from yesterday. You can see the fine example of staining I can do with my hands. But really, your hearts look great.
I make teddy bears, a few quilts, aprons, garden aprons and tote bags. Nothing too primitive, I guess. It keeps me busy when I'm not out in the yard. dooley
Dooley, would you describe the garden aprons? Perhaps post a picture if possible? This sounds like a fund-raising project for the senior citizen center in our nearby town. Lots of the ladies are accomplished seamstresses, and with all the gardeners around here, the aprons ought to be a real success!
