Hiya All. I've just registered and am looking forward to some interesting threads! I'm a rank amateur gardener, but as I've just been forcibly retired (at 56!) I guess i'm going to have time on my hands to try lots of new things. Like photography, making music, cycling, and cooking, including making bread, something I've always fancied doing! :-o
Hi again Colin, and a warm welcome to GardenStew. Making bread is something I want to eventually start doing also. I even have my Mom's recipe just waiting until I 'find the time' to do it Why not start a blog to keep us up to date with your gardening progress.
Colin4May don't forget photography, I love seeing photos of plants and gardens :-D . Hope you enjoy the site as much as I do. Welcome from the Pacific Northwest, USA
Morning Colin. So glad you decided to join our forums. You'll find us all a friendly bunch willing to help each other out as much as we can. I hope you're getting more sunshine than we are up here in Scotland.
Hi Colin, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas. I love baking bread, trouble is we love eating it waaaaay too much so I don't bake very much anymore. We would love to see photos of your garden adventures.
Hi Colin, welcome to GardenStew A friendly group of gardeners from around the world. With lots of forums, blogs and gardens there is something for everyone. Jerry
Hi Colin.... welcome from SE Texas. Looking forward to seeing what all you'll be doing in the garden.
Hello Colin, and welcome to the GardenStew! This is a great place to share stories, ask questions, answer queries and just generally enjoy the company of other gardeners. We are in Central Texas on a small farm. I love to bake bread, and do so at least once a week. We also have vegetable gardens, herb beds, flowers, bee hives and chickens. Finding time to visit with my GardenStew friends is really important to me, though!
Hi Colin, Welcome from Missouri USA. Bread is not hard to do. Just be sure the water for your yeast is not too hot. If it is just right for baby, it is just right for yeast. Cold water even works, only slower. Too hot will kill the little yeasts. I learned to make bread back in the 1970s, and my first batch was so bad the dog refused to eat it. It was hard as a brick. It just takes practice and maybe some 'waste' with your education on it. It isn't really wasted if you are learning better. Retirement is fun when you can try all kinds of new things.
Hey Colin. Calin here, in Romania. Your name comes as close as it can to mine. When English speaking people see it written they just go (kay-lin) but I don't correct them! LOL Anyway... welcome!
Greetings, Colin, from another "rank amateur." :-D I'm barely a month in to my first garden, but I'm learning so much here and making a lot of new friends. I'm anxious to hear and see how your garden does.
