Hey, I'm Renee from North Texas.

It's 3:58 am here and I can't sleep. Has anyone tried weeding while wearing a miner's helmet? ;)

Seriously though, I'm glad to have found a place to talk about plants! :-D

Hello Renee, and welcome from a Central Texas gardener. My husband has a miner's helmet with the little headlight on it--he uses it when he's deep in the bowels of a piece of machinery.
Working on our little farm pretty well tires us out, so we aren't up late. However, we are up early, so if you need advice at 5 a.m., we're here!

Hi Renee, welcome to GardenStew from another north Texan.
In the middle of summer, I would love to have a miners helmet for nighttime gardening...only time of the day when the temp is below 90 if we are lucky.

Welcome from Illinois, we've used miners helmet's to hunt night crawlers for fishing. I can see where it would be useful for many things.

Welcome from me too... Though the temps might be cooler at night, I would be so afraid of getting snakebitten again. Those nasty things are loose at night too. It was midnight when I got snakebit by a copperhead a few years ago and spent the weekend in the hospital. My dog was trying to kill it [and I was aiding and abetting] and I got bit on my foot. Don't wear flip flops at night, at least not in Missouri.
