Being only lower 70 temperature range this morning I decided that it was time I took myself plant shopping again. At Lowe's I got.... 2 Salvia 'May Night' 1 Aster 'Daydream' 1 Russian Sage, which by the way is neither a Sage nor Russian 1 really large Passionflower Vine with no name and it was in a hanging basket labeled by the distributor as 10" Foliage. At Home Depot I got.... 3 Miscanthus 'Gold Bar' and used the buy 2 get 1 Free coupon Now at Calloway's Nursery I was running amok among the sale tables. They had several 50% off and some Buy One Get One...which when you do the math are really two ways of saying the same thing 2 Rudbeckia hirta 'Chim Chiminee' 2 Echinacea purpurea 'Ruby Star' 2 Hosta 'Blue Ice' Not on the sale tables I got a huge pot containing several Camelot Foxglove, I just have to keep trying to get them established in my garden. The last Patchouli they had 3 Dusty Miller, haven't had those in years 2 Dark Pink Cosmos 1 Citrosa 1 large pot of Zinnia Zahara 'Double Fire' The most gorgeous red/orange double blooms I'll get individual photos eventually ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden )
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,..talk about going on a spree!,..but well done Toni,..i bet you are a happy gardener with that list filled,..looking forward to seeing the individual shots.
Most of the new plants don't have blooms yet but I did get some shots of the blooms there are. It does look a lot like the purple coneflower in the photo but in person it is a pretty shade of darkish pink... Ruby Star Coneflower ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) The Hosta 'Blue Ice' tiny thing and there are 3 in each pot... I know there is no bloom but it's pretty ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Miscanthus 'Gold Bar' Okay another one without blooms but the leaves are pretty ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Chim Chiminee Rudbeckia ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I hope these self sow as easily as the other Zinnia do Zahara Double Fire Zinnia ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden )
Very nice Toni,..the Coneflower,..Rudbeckia and the Zinnia will brighten up your garden,..and even without blooms the Miscanthus is attractive,..of course i will be interested watching your Camelot Foxglove coming into bloom,..well done!.
Toni!! I need customers like you in Memphis!! My family owns a hardware store in which we just opened a new garden center!! I bring home all of the half dead and sick plants home where they get alot of TLC.
Hi Jacquelyn, lucky you!,..do you get to keep the recovered plant or do you have to return it for stock?,..what a great selection you must have to hand.
I keep them!! And yep Im pretty lucky. However in Memphis the summers are so hot most things get sun bruned.
Lucky you indeed,..what a garden you must have with such a great selection,..though as you said plants get burned up where you are.
Heh heh heh....I liked how you began this posting, Toni. Well of course you were totally innocent....you couldn't help it at all--they just wanted a new and ozy home, that's all....right? Well, what a lovely group of plants you wound up with. Do you already know where you are going to put them? Thanks for showing some of them lose-up. They looked like good and healthy speimens. Those plants are just going to make your garden look EVEN MORE attrative than it already does....is that atually possible?
Awww Toni now you've got me wanting to make a trip to the nearest garden centre. I love to see the plants other people buy but it just fuels my addiction to have even more myself. I wonder what excuse I can make to Ian about taking a trip to the Clyde Valley again???
What a way to celebrate the recent rains you've had "up north"! Looks like a great selection.... and sounds like so much fun out shopping for new plants! (Reminder to self... no... you can not go out shopping like Toni just did!)
Oooo Toni...great finds! I don't have that Hosta and I really like the Rudbeckia as well. I think I need a plant shopping trip too!
