Here's a great idea if you use a watering can in your garden. Tye a bar of soap in a mesh bag and hang it in your watering can. Then when you fill your can up with water you will be giving your plants a double treat. They will get watered and a soapy bath to keep the bugs away.
Thanks. When I read that I just had to pass it along. I need to get a bar of soap so I can do that also.
I imagine there's a preferred brand or type of soap that's best to use? Surely there's some that are too strong for plants?
Ivory soap is a good one to use--it is really a soap. I use it to make insecticidal soap, so a bar in the watering can would be helpful, too. Now, if something survives so I can water it, I'll try the soapy water method.
The article never mentioned which brand to use cherylad. Thank you Marlingardener for the Ivory soap suggestion. Yikes I'm sure the heat is doing a number on the garden this year. Carolyn I bet that it would work pretty good in a hose end sprayer. That is another great idea to keep those bugs at bay.
