For the day that's in it (Friday the 13th) I thought I would ask "Are you superstitious?". And if so what are your main weaknesses?

Personally I'm not at all. Maybe when I was younger I would have been but then logic took over and I realised that things happen for a reason. I used to avoid walking on pavement cracks but now I'll hop, skip and jump on them :D

Wikipedia has quite a good page on superstitions:

I'm not in the least bit superstitious and never have been. Ian's birthday is today (October 13th) and he has had quite a few 'Black Friday' birthdays in his time - he's still around to tell the tale!!! :D

    Nope, not superstitious either.

Randy's dad is so superstitious it is funny to a degree. Turning around and driving miles out of his way because he saw a black cat on the side of the street or road, etc.

No, I am not. Why worry about things like that? There are other more important things to do. Dooley

I'm not the least bothered by black cats or ladders or Fridays dated the 13th,
I step on cracks without a second thought
and break mirrors intentionally if I need the shards for a project.

But I do have some silly rituals that I've had since childhood. 8)
I throw a pinch of salt over my left shoulder if I spill the shaker on the table,
I pick up heads-up pennies that I find on the ground,
make a wish on them and then flip them back over my right shoulder
(silver coins go into my pocket, regardless of which side was up ;))
and occasionally, I knock wood when speaking of something that I hope won't happen.

    But I still wouldn't say I'm superstitious,
because I don't actually believe that any of those things makes a hair of difference,
    just silly old habits.

Nope ! I feel if something is going to bring me bad luck, there isn't anything I can do about it anyhow!

Nope. I used to do all the knocking on wood, spitting and whistling, etc, all of which I learnt from my dad, but it did him no good, and I stopped doing it the day he died.

I am however a great believer in fate and what will be will be. :)

I'm not superstitious. 13 is a lucky number in our house as our first daughter was born on the 13th.

Not a thread of superstition in me. I'm a cynical realist! :-?

Not superstitious at all. I own two black cats.

And I think we're pretty much captain of our own fate, anyway.

Nope, I've had too many things happen out of the blue, good and bad. I used to be terrified of the number 33, then shortly before my 33rd birthday had a massive stroke that nearly did me in. Being scared of a number all those years didn't do me a lick of good, so why fret about Anything?

Thirty-three is awfully young to have a stroke! I hope you're better now.

I should talk. I'm 53, which I consider to be simply middle-aged, and I broke a rib a couple weeks ago and then discovered that I have osteopenia, the precursor to osteoporosis. I went from being a middle-aged karate student to being a frail old lady in a split second.
