I'm off early in the morning to Montrose with Ian. He has telephone exchanges to visit. I've elected to go with him and take notes on what equipment is needed for broadband. (Any excuse for a lunch paid for by his firm. ;)) I should be back around 7ish so I'll see you all then. :-D

Have a great Thursday everybody. :D

Enjoy your day with Ian, Eileen. I used to love to go with Richard when he went on short trips for one of the companies he worked for.

Think y'all will pass any good plant nurseries? It's just a thought.

Enjoy your day with Ian. I too used to travel with my husband on service calls way back when he could still work and I wasn't working. They were probably some of our best times.

How lovely! Mark should have been going to Munich in Feb, but now we are going to our nephews christening so he has had to cancel....not that I could have blagged a trip.

Tell us all about it Eileen.

Well we got back around 8 o'clock. We were both cold, wet, tired and ever so slightly windswept!!
We were so tense and exhausted when we got in that Ian went off and had a long soak in the bath while I fell asleep in my chair then he took a nap and I had a shower. We ordered a take-away for dinner as neither of us felt like cooking.
Definately not the best day for travelling up north I'm afraid. :( The Forth Road Bridge was to all traffic except cars because of high gusting winds of 80mph. The rain was lashing down so hard the windscreen wipers could hardly cope and it was freezing.
We had the traffic reports on all the time and had to make quite a few diversions as lorries were overturning and cars were being blown into each other. We avoided all roads with trees alongside them as heard that one poor man was killed when a tree was uprooted and fell on to his car!! We actually saw an empty van being lifted onto its two offside wheels and we honestly thought it was going to tip over but, just in time, the wind dropped for a few seconds and it righted itself again. The driver pulled on to the hard shoulder, got out of his cab and was physically sick - poor guy we felt so sorry for him.
As we drove part of the way home along the coast road, no trees there thankfully, the waves were sweeping up and over the dual carriageway. It was really frightening. Fields looked more like lakes, some with floating hale bales!! I would have taken piccies but to be perfectly honest I didn't want to stand out in that kind of weather.
Boy were we glad when we turned the key in our own front door. :D

Whoa, what a terrifying day. Sorry it wasn't a nice getaway. But so glad you made it back home safe.

Oh dear Eils I knew it was bad where you are now but I had no idea it was that bad. Poor guy who got done in by that tree, what a way to go :(

We're glad to have you back safe and sound!

So glad to hear you two are home safe and sound. I hate being out in weather like that.

Oops, this is Sharon, but Richard is glad too.

    I can just hear you now, repeating Dorothy's mantra . . .
"There's NO place like home, there's NO place like home, there's NO place . . ."

Glad you all got home safely, sorry it was such a nerve wracking day.
