    pollinated violets?

My african violet has swollen as in the flower looks as if it has successfully pollinated itself. I have never seen this happen so my question is...does this normally happen and will I get viable seeds?

Never heard of seeds on them.. They say pick off the dead blossoms......To make newbies, pinch the 2nd leaf in and put it directly into starting soil.. Keep watered an not too much sun.

Definately normal for African Violets as mine does exactly the same. :-D I've never seen any seed heads forming either but Bsewnsew is right you get new plants from the leaves.

I just take the africian violet potting soil and pinch off the leaves and put them in the moist soil.. I have oodles of them started like that . Some bloom faster than others......One thought to keep in mind, They like to be crowded.....They like each other. I water from bottom and top.

Thank you, everyone, for your help.
Would have been intersting to get seeds, but oh well...I tried the leaf propagation method and have had great results. :-D
