Day three.....hmm maybe just a tad harder than day 2. Got up with a horrible headache. Is this possibly some of the withdrawl process? Anyway I am determined. I wonder how Lexxi is doing? GO LEXXI GO
It could be. The biggest thing that I experienced was that if I was around anyone who smoked, I almost puked from the stench. This was while I was still in the hospital recovering from bypass. Once I got home where no one smoked, I was much better I was. The people in the hospital who reeked of nicotine smell? The Drs. and nurses!
When the other half and I quit, some 10 years ago when we decided to start a family, we tried to quit together. Youch! Argue, fight, bicker, you name it, we said it! So, he started again and I quit. He was very considerate and didn't smoke in the house or around me and didn't speak about it. It was a struggle, and if I am truly honest, I still miss smoking, but after 6 weeks or so, he quit also, and neither of us have smoked since. I don't miss the fury teeth, the stinking clothes and the yellow fingers. I never noticed the smell when I smoked, but now when the kids go to Karate, there is a mum who sneaks out for a ciggy and when she comes back into the hall the whole room is full of the stench. You go desertflower - every day you go without a smoke is a day closer to being a non smoker!
Headaches are definately one of the common withdrawal symptoms of giving up smoking but they shouldn't persist for too long. Your body is simply adjusting to being nicotine free so don't give up now as you're doing soooo well!! Did I tell you I'm really proud of you?
DF, the headaches will go away in a short time. You might want to increase your water intake, that will weaken the affects of withdrawal. Drinking a glass of water whenever you feel the urge for a cigarette will help too. Sometimes smokers have triggers that they want to avoid. They might have gotten into the habit of having a cup of coffee or tea, etc and a cigarette. So when they stop smoking they also stop drinking whatever beverage was their trigger but they don't replace it with plain water, they just don't drink anything during the day. The body gets dehydrated and that causes other physical problems....headaches, fatigue, sore muscles, sleeplessness, irritability, etc.
Hi everyone! Hey I am still working on this and doing quite well I might add. The headache was a passing thing, not too bothersome and I stll havve not used a patch. I think it will make it harder(to use it)...I have gone this long without it why put more nicotine in my system so I'm just going ahead with out the darn thing. Wow this is day five already! Thanks for all the support!
