So out of idle curiosity, I went looking for when and why the Stew was originally created. While I didn't really land on why, I did wind up reading alot of posts by Frank, and was reminded, he is really a just-plain-old-nice-gnome! I'm really grateful to be going into another spring with the Stew, and just wanted to gush a bit :stew1: :stew2: :stew1:

Hi Critter and Netty, I was looking for the topic about why the Stew was started (I'm sure there was one somewhere) but I just could not find it  Oh well to shorten a long story I really wanted to create a community-based website (around the end of 2004) and gardening was an obvious choice. It was a decision I'll never regret. Coming up with the name was an important step, turned out really good. The site started to find its feet when Eileen came on board as moderator, and a bit further along the way Toni. With many design iterations and additions along the way it has definitely found its feet now :D I'm grateful to all for every year it stays online. It's a treasure to me.

I'll gush a bit too. I've found an online home here, lots of wonderful people who share my interests and lend support when that's needed. I'm very, very fond of this site.

Wednesday I found some blooms opened on the dwarf Hollyhocks and came inside to get the camera. Guess I need to get those posted too.

Randy was in the kitchen and as I went back thru with camera in hand I told him that 'gardening would be pretty boring without GardenStew to share it with'

Well I've only been here a short time, but it's been a great time. Really helpful people and for a beginner like me that's a precious thing. I say thanks to you all that have been on and thanks to all who are just coming on. It's a great community and I've enjoyed being a part of it. And a big thanks to Frank, Eileen and Toni for the work they do. :)

I'm with Woodlandfey, it's almost the first thing I do when I get to work!! I refer to you all as my friends. I tell my co-worker about Glenda or Droopy or JuBabe or Calomaar or... Sometimes I check in several times a day to see what's been going on and see if anyone has posted new pictures :) I love the pet photos :D Thanks to Frank & Eileen & Toni for all the hard work. This is a great place to belong!

I have to say that I have found a home here at the Stew. Its not just the flowers, herbs, veggies or other topics that can be found here, but the people and their kindness, the support thats given so freely, and the way everyone goes all out to help another on here that makes this site like no other. Frank, Eileen, Toni, I hope you 3 know just what exactly what has been created here at this site, because its special, and don't ever let it go. Thanks you 3 for making gardening fun around the world!
