Description: When the temperature rises, the bees come out and sit on their front porch in the evening. This is called "bearding" because the mass of bees looks like a beard--kind of. This is the strongest of our three hives, but the other two beard, also.
Bearding is a sign of a strong, active hive. If there is a lot of room inside the hive the bees don't have to beard to cool off. They only beard when everyone is home and it gets a bit crowded inside.
