Good Morning , Remember I was looking for ideas on some kind of markers for my seeds and to remember where I put my perennials at for next spring so I don't put something on top of them. Well I was eating the other day with plastic KNIVES , And then it come to me They are cheap and will last for the winter, Just take your old forks clean them and write what you want on there and stick them in the ground. That sounds like a great idea to me. So good that I might actually have to borrow it for remembering where I planted my bulbs.
Margie, when we were working on a grant to furnish native plants for a burned-over area, we were given kits which included plastic knives and paint pens to mark our seedlings. The markers lasted one full year and were still readable. I think you are on to something here!
What a great tip! We use plastic cutlery when picknicing, and I think I'll just start to save them and use them like you do.
Margie, I think you have a great idea. I have a customer who puts those plastic knives in rings around certain plants to try to discourage critters. She does label the plants too. So it's double duty!
Great recycling idea. It should work fine. I cut up bleach bottles for labels and use Sharpie markers. I've had some of my labels last more than one season.
