We know that flowers start out from some sort of seed. I just
never noticed my hosta's bearing seed pods before. Take a look.

    Here's a better view:

This is what the seeds look like inside the pods when they've dried out:

So I'm not sure yet but maybe I might give these a try inside sometime over the winter. Maybe winter sow some since I'm really not sure how to go about these.
Has anybody else noticed pods on their Hostas before?

Yes, I have. Many of our Hostas set pods, but I guess not all are viable, or true, for that matter. I have seed-sown Hostas outside. The "Pacific Blue Edger" is getting to be a little weed. :D

    HOSTA Pods

OOOH NO, I had them yesterday and cut of my long stalks and all the seed pods, You know where I'm going back out to see if I can find my PODS. The long things on them were so ugly I just chopped them. Maybe I should'nt have done that either , I didn't know I guess if I don't know I should leave things alone. :'( I really like my hosta, I'm going to the woods see ya in a bit with my pods I hope.

Thank you for the info. Margie

Yup, we get them, and I have grown them from seed. I have no idea on my varieties as they were given to me as lumps from other peoples gardens, so I don't know if the seedlings are true or no, but I don't mind as I love the purple flowers and they do fab in my dry, shadey garden.

I've grown some from seed too, but they took YEARS to get big enough to bloom. I'd like to try planting the seeds from my Plantaginea to see if they come true.
