Our November has been crazy weather-wise. We had 19°C/66°F at the beginning of the mont. The lowest temp was -4°C/25°F and that was the week-end before last. In between there we've had sun, rain, hail, sleet and wind. Lots of wind.

The worst rainfall was on November 26th and 27th. We had about 110 mm /4,3 inches of rain combined with strong gale. Yay!

But the week before we had frost. Frost is beautiful:

Then, following the frost, we had some snow. I couldn't go riding because the ponies aren't fitted with proper snow soles yet. The snow built up so bad it looked like they walked on stilts. So I took them to the rink and let them play. Here they're done playing:

All that snow rained away in the aforementioned rain. We kept a close watch on the small river by the stables, but it didn't manage to flood anything this time.

Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent. We lit our first candle:

Then we had some snow again on Monday. It wasn't much, but enough to brighten things up. Yesterday it was busy melting.Tiger didn't want to get his paws wet so he hitched a ride in my wheel barrow from my car and into the stables. He has trained us well:

Today we've got 10°C/50°F, wind and rain. So I did some shopping. Gabriella (the pony) needed new boxes for her supplement feed. I found a lovely lunch box in a hardware store. I bought two of them plus some sheets of letters. This is the result:

Well, she's a princess pony, and as you all know princesses like hot pink and gold. So that's what she got. Truls also needs new boxes, but his need to be bigger so I saved that chore for another stormy, wet day.

Droopy first off I'd like to say that I love your photograph of the candle - very artistic!! :)
We've had much the same type of weather as you have lately but without so much snow. I do like to look at the world when it's covered in frost as it takes on a whole new dimension and is so beautiful.
Tiger has the right idea by training his humans to keep his paws dry - don't you just love cats?
Wow those feed boxes - just what a princess pony needs.;) I just hope Truls will have ones just as fashionable as Gabriella's and with his name on them too.

    Hiya Miz D,
I enjoyed this posting. How bizarre to see snow. Here there is no hope of it yet, as our temps are in double figures still and with a soft, southerly wind.

I especially liked that first piccy of yours. I found it quite artistic.

Your ponies looked a bit sad out there in the cold. hahaha. I'll bet they were glad to get back into their stalls. Their accommodations are five star.

Nice to see you've got the Advent programme going.

That box of Gabriella is an attention-getter. It will be hard to misplace that. She likes it doesn't she? Hope Truls isn't too jealous.

Thank for liking the photos. I'm not very fond of frost and snow, but then again I couldn't live anywhere without seasons. I need the winter to better enjoy spring. I think. :)

Eileen and Sjoerd, you can have the snow. I only need a thin layer to protect my plants from the frost. Like 20-30 cm or 8-12 inches. That's just about the right amount.

The feed boxes are appreciated. Not the boxes per se but the content. :chuckle: I'm on the look-out for fancy ones for Truls but I don't think the manufacturers ever thought to make big, fancy lunch boxes. I just found boring ones.

Hi Droopy, important question - does Tiger actually sit still while you move along the wheelbarrow? Or only when it is stationary? Inquiring minds (i.e. me) need to know.

It's interesting that you seem to have got a relatively mild November also. Thanks for sharing your photos!

Oh, he sits still in there until he gets where he wants to go. :smt081 The alternative is wet, cold paws. He loves his comfort that one, even though he's big and should be very hardy. He was born and raised in that stable. December is starting out very mild too. I don't mind mild winters, but they tend to be very wet. We've still got at least three months of winter to go, so I guess we can be in for some surprises yet.

Our weather has been much like yours here in Ontario so far this winter. We had one snowfall but it was melted away by rain and mild weather. I am agree with you about cold weather making us appreciate the spring weather more ... as much as I dislike cold and snow, I couldn't imagine NOT having 4 seasons.

Netty, we'll just have to hang in there. :flower: I am just hoping the wind will die down. I can cope with the rain, but strong gale is another matter.

I was beginning to wonder if real fall weather would ever arrive here, but it seemed we just needed a multi-day rain event to break the pattern and let it happen. We have fall like temps and maybe this year Winter will truly begin with the Winter Solstice.
Last weekend from Thursday through Sunday we got 8.75 inches/ 122 mm of rain.

Thanks 2ofus. :) Toni, I guess you need your rain. Fingers crossed that you'll also have some snow.

I checked the weather statistics for November 2015. It's one of the warmest and wettest in the last 100 years.
