Found this growing in Caledon Wild Flower Garden. I first thought the red was a flower but on closer inspection they appear to be bracts. Note also the interesting rings on the trunk. Any ideas?

It reminds me of a poinsettia with its red bracts but I haven't a clue what it could actually be. Sorry.

    Hi
Thanks for trying, but I think I have it. This is Alberta magna, the bracts on the pic are part of the fruit but it also gets red flowers. Most of my books only showed the flowers, making identification difficult. It grows in Kwa Zulu Natal.
