The Cyreus has been sporting two flower buds. And I'd been watching them all weekend. I figured last night would be the night it opened, so I vowed to stay awake until at least midnight to see if it bloomed. I checked on it every half hour. It opened between 10:30 and 11pm. With camera and flashlight in-hand. I started taking photos.
Here you can see the second bud.

Then I moved it to the back steps where I could get more light on it in hope of getting a better photo.

I stuck my nose right in the middle of it... not much fragrance at all. Hubby had already gone to bed, and since the plant is pretty small, I brought it inside to show him and to ask if he could smell it. He couldn't either. Bummer... I heard they were heavenly-scented.

And... it was still open this morning around 6:45am.

How big was the flower, you ask?

Oh I'm so glad you stayed up Cheryl as that is a gorgeous flower. :-D What a pity its scent didn't amount to much though as it looks as though it should have a wonderful perfume.

Yea, you stayed awake for the blooming!! That is a gorgeous bloom, well worth losing a little sleep over. Too bad about the lack of fragrance though.

I was disappointed by it not having a scent. But... can't have everything I suppose.
And now that I know approximately what time it will open, I can try to plan to catch the next one. Or... at least remember to check it first thing in the morning.
    Thanks everyone!

While most zzzz of us are fast zzzzzz asleep she has steadfastly accepted zzzzzzzzz the challange of zzzzzzzzz, zzzzzzzzz........

Jerry... Jerry... Hey Jerry! Wake Up! I have something to tell you! Drats. Guess it'll have to wait 'til morning.

    Thank you Netty and KK.
I checked the other bud a bit ago and I don't think it's ready to bloom. Maybe tomorrow night.
And this, my Stewbies, is why I don't need night-blooming-only plants.

    Thanks Calin and Karen!
And the other one opened overnight. I didn't try to catch it in the act, but just checked on it first thing this morning before coming to work.
This one didn't have a fragrance either. Oh well...
