    I went to get the laundry yesterday and this large caterpillar was sitting on the edge of this towel.

    It is a tersa sphinx caterpillar. Seems late in the year for him but what a nice way to end the "bug season". A "lifer" for me also.

    Great picture Bethie. I think if I found that on my towel, I'd be screaming like a girl LOL Oh ya, I AM a girl! I wouldn't hurt it though.

    I think that may freak me out also, it's the eyes, the EYES! It's definitely a interesting sight though. Thanks for posting it Bethie.

    Frank you posted that same caterpillar once and in the picture you posted I think it has a strip that looked like
    a slight smile.It reminds me of a puppy.

    Yes,Frank thats it .I think that is the cutest caterpillar.ever.I wish I could find one I'd let it eat anything it wants to eat in my yard.

    I was looking at the nubbles on the towel and wondering that too - looks like a whopper.

    This caterpillar was a good 2 inches. It was very warm that day so he was very lively.
    Frank's caterpillar is a spicebush swallowtail butterfly.
