Meeting possible son-in-law
Category: Welcome to my craft world | Posted: Fri May 02, 2008 3:45 pm My daughter and her man are coming to see me this weekend. She has dated him since December and said she is as sure as she has ever been that he is the one. She is 32 and has never married. She said all along that when she marries, it will be one time only. I applaud her for that. Both of them have occasional part time jobs. And that is where they met. They are black jack dealers for a company that puts on parties for large corporations. His day time job is mortgage banker and she is a Forensic Biologist for Dallas County. Any hoo, they seem to be wonderfully happy and I am happy for them. I am anxious to meet him and hope he is anxious to meet her family; she has met his and they love her and can see that he is extremely happy. Sounds like the real deal! Will update this story next week... This blog entry has been viewed 1170 times

My day so far...
Category: Welcome to my craft world | Posted: Thu Mar 13, 2008 5:51 pm Good morning... or is it? First of all, I think I have termites (mobile home). Took a sample by the extension office for them to identify. Man that can do this is off until tomorrow. So I anxiously await his call. I bit down on a piece of ice and parts of two teeth on a 3 tooth bridge cracked and came off. Go to the dentist next Tuesday. The dentist will problably have to 'chisel' the bridge off. I am really looking forward to that experience. Oh what fun that will be. I really don't fear the dentist as some people do. I have always gone every 6 months for cleaning and check-up. But doc, just make sure you have the valve on the nitrous oxide turned wide open!!!! It is just the pain my poor credit card will feel. It might need a shot of novacaine as well... Hopefully all will turn out well. My yard is so soggy that I can't get out and play in the dirt! Hope the wind will help dry it out. Went to WalMart this morning ... didn't buy any plants. Still fear that last frost! But they had the most beautiful Geraniums, 4" pot for $1.00. They had red, coral and pink. I was tempted, but resisted. So if any of you are headed to your WalMart, (I am sure you will anyway) check out the garden section. Guess, I can wash clothes and vaccum, since I can't seem to play in the dirt right now. Hope everyone has a 'sun-shiny' day!! This blog entry has been viewed 739 times
Thanksgiving has come and gone
Category: Welcome to my craft world | Posted: Sun Nov 25, 2007 2:10 am That was a fast week! And yes, I was stuffed! My DD took over in the kitchen and prepared everything. What a blessing our children can be (sometime...ha-ha). Although I only had my DD, DS and DIL, we had a wonderful and blessful time. I always like to clean up after the meal, rather than come back to a dirty and dishelved mess. But this time I played it rather slow and laid back. Maybe age is catching up with me, or someone is telling me to slow down and 'breathe'. There is more to life than jumping up from the table and washing dishes! We watched the Dallas Cowboys stomp the NY Jets (34-3). Woo-hoo GO COWBOYS!! We looked at some of the ads in the paper and decided we would get up at 4:30a.m. and do some shopping. What a mistake! I went to WalMart and DD went to Sears. She bought herself two pair of boots at a really good price. I bought a coffee-pot, because the carafe' got broken while washing it. Anyway the people at WalMart were like maniacs. I was in and out of there in 20 minutes. Came back home, took a nap and then made some coffee!! All in all Thanksgiving was a nice day, cool weather (the temps had been in the upper 70-low 80's)so it seemed like Thanksgiving. We truly have so much to be thankful for. I hope all of you and your families had a hearty and healthy Thanksgiving. This blog entry has been viewed 619 times
Thanksgiving is coming...
Category: Welcome to my craft world | Posted: Fri Nov 16, 2007 12:40 am This time next week, I will be stuffed and miserable! As it only happens once a year,I won't feel guilty ... just blessed for the day. For me the build up and anticipation of Thanksgiving is what I enjoy the most. When I worked, I would take T'giving week off. On Monday, I would cut and chop ingredients for the dressing, and make other preparations. After grocery shopping, my daughter always laughed at me for the way I would almost cover the kitchen counter tops with the groceries (cans, boxes, etc.) that I would be using. I would group non-perishable food items together ie. ingredients for pies, fruit salads, etc,.I felt like I had an assembly line going, and didn't have to dig through the pantry. Tuesday would have specific things for me to do as well as Wednesday. Thanksgiving morning, Paul (deceased DH) would start carving 'old Tom turkey'. Kristi (DD) would set the table, help me in the kitchen, make sure items were picked up, and light the candles (what ambiance they make ~ love, love, love candles). Family would start arriving around 11:00. They would pitch-in as well, as we started our visiting and catching-up.Seems like they all ended up in the kitchen ... helping and sampling ~ ha-ha. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday, and still is, even though my family has drastically been reduced, as God has called so many home. I hope each of you have a blessed day and remember those that aren't as fortunate as you. Also remember our brave soldiers fighting for our freedom. God bless... Betcha' didn't beleive me... did ya?
Category: Welcome to my craft world | Posted: Sun Oct 07, 2007 8:46 pm Well after days of desperation and frustration... finally the light at the end of the tunnel...his name is Michael. He just left my home after cleaning up my 'puter and showing me how to upload pics from my camera to computer. I will admit it looked so 'greek' to me as his hands move at the speed of light. So, we went back over it and I wrote my cheat sheet! So, now I have no excuses... oh no! I finally 'phone' met a member last night and we talked and talked and talked. You would think we had known each other for years. We plan a meeting very soon and I am so looking forward to it. Right now, I have to go wash dishes! My maid is off on Sunday so she can rest and visit with her family! Last edited: Mon Oct 08, 2007 3:42 am This blog entry has been viewed 659 times

Newsletter to beddy-bye!
Category: Welcome to my craft world | Posted: Mon Sep 24, 2007 9:34 pm For the next few days I will be putting the finishing touches to my community newsletter. I try to start the next month's letter before the current month is over, but I have been 'gluing' totems (ha~ha ... I know you all don't believe me, because you haven't seen them yet!). I need to start researching my archives for ideas for the November newsletter. So once October is put to bed, I'll hopefully have a clue as how to get my totem pics posted! One day at a time...
