I have 5 or 6 planted and they are all doing well over the winter. But this particular one must really like its home... it's full of blooms! I'll be getting more of these this year, you can bet!
I love lavender too Cheryl and would fill most of my garden with them if I could. None of mine are flowering at the moment so it's great to see your in full bloom. Do you have any of the white flowering variety? They are gorgeous and I'm hoping to get some this year.
Eileen... I didn't realize they came in white. I'll definitely keep an eye out for some of those. Thanks Donna! I had tried some a couple of years ago and they didn't do well at all. Amazing what happens when you give them the right conditions.
Cheryl, it also come in Red. it looks more purple in the photo but it really is red in person. I really need to find more Lavendula stoechas 'Kew Red' (Kew Red Lavender)
Daggummit Toni! (and Eileen) Now I just have to have some red and white ones! Frank... can Toni have another title added "The Enabler"??
I actually almost ordered some seeds for the red ones. But they didn't have any of the whites. So that was my way of being strong and resisting the temptations. LOL
I can't believe you have anything blooming! My gardens are all brown but at least they aren't knee deep in snow. I wished I could grow Lavender but they won't grow in my zone. With the 3 colors of lavender you could make a patriotic theme.
@2ofus... I was thinking along the patriotic theme too... that would be cool to try... if I can find them.
Cheryl I meant to say that the white lavender is Angustifolia 'Edelweiss' and is a flowering perennial. Here's a picture of it in bloom.
Cheryl you'd love the white! I found it at a home improvement center and love, love, love it! I've never seen red before, must start looking!!! You are right about the right conditions-I had tried it in the past with no luck. Then, thanks to Google and Garden Stew I put it in the right spot and it has thrived!! There are so many different varieties one could have quite the collection
Thanks Eileen! Deanna... the white one will definitely be on my want list this year. I'd be tickled to find the red too, but might have to order it.
