Take a few of ya carrots and shread them in a food processor sprinkle in some raisins, and a big spoon full of miricle whip. Stir it up into a wonderful slaw. The kind of stuff that is better after an hour or so when the juice turns orange. Now to take it outa the trailer park and turn it up a notch add some chunked pine apple to the party.

    Cayuga,

I actually use a popcorn air popper. I order beans from Sweet Maria's. Way cheaper than buying beans, and infinitely better.

    Hey Cayuga,
It isn't difficult to grow them at all. I grow a batch in the spring and in the greenhouse in the fall after I pull out the tom plants.

Today in the lottie the greenhouse got watered. snack cues were harvested. I saw that some broad beans are ready for harvesting...so, tomorrow or the next day. Another trug-full of strawbs were harvested.
I gave the tom plants a feed with comfrey tea.

Honey harvested from the bees and centrifuged. I'll let it "ripen" for 3-4 days and then I'll tap it off into jars.

I planted 5 hens and chicks. Some are very big and are awesome. It's going to be hot next week so I need to get a few plants in. The ground.

Well, we had 50 mph+ winds come through yesterday while we were away. My plants took a beating. The squash got the worst of it. I'll take more pictures later but here's what I came home to:

Some of the branches were sheared off.

I had a great day in the garden! I am still planting ... added a few new Hosta's and a Rose bush. There are lots of weeds to pull as well, and the forget-me-nots are ready to be removed. Compost pile is building up too! Spinach is ready to pick and so is some romaine lettuce. We need some rain.

Today I pulled the shelling peas and planted cukes on the fence in their place. Laid ground cover for the header line for the melon patch. Planted melon seeds directly in the garden in the plastic. Found a volunteer melon that I moved and am hoping it is the one Mart sent me last year that i didn't get any harvested for me. They rotted in the garden from the cold and wet we had all Summer. Weed eated around the fruit tree s and down the grape rows. and then I crawled through the high tunnel pulling the bind weed from the tomato plants. Now I need to go to bed. tomorrow comes early and I am baking for my Wed market.

Tapped the honey off today and filled 40 jars of 450 grams.

I had put the slung honey supers back for the bees to lick clean. I removed them two days later...all clean and ready to use the next time. Hopefully within the coming three weeks.

Not much in the garden today. The rain hit this morning and we got 1/2 in in about a half hour. So today I am baking bread. I am almost finished and then I am off to the hospital. My dad went in this morning. He is 80 and not getting younger. I am sad to see him age each time I see him.

I picked peas for dinner tomorrow, and pitted cherries from our tree and made a cherry pie (actually that was yesterday). Almost done processing cherries, left plenty on the tree as it was a bumper crop year.

Yesterday I finished pulling weeds and staking up a few plants. Picked 6 cukes, 1 eggplant and a pint of cherry toms. Next week I will probably be canning sweet & spicy toms, my favorite to eat. The heat here has been awful. Work needs to be done early mornings. 107* on my deck Wed. Cant get in car till a/c cools it down.

Donna, stay cool if you can! I have two pots of marinara sauce bubbling on the stove. Like Donna, we need to get the hot stuff done early in the day. Cold salad for lunch, and for dinner tonight a lovely grass-fed steak given to us by a friend.
