8-ball zucchini is just a round zucchini, instead of long. It's nice to stuff or we like it sliced in half, de-seeded, and then brush the inside with butter, Italian seasoning, and parmesan cheese and bake. It tastes the same just a different shape.
Thanks 2ofus. I was wondering. A friend gave me a couple of summer squash seedlings that she had grown from collected seed. It has been producing small footballs! They look like zucs in every way by shape. I don't know if they have cross bred or if they are 8-balls. I suppose it doesn't really matter.
I think the 8Ball zucchini are those little round ones . I tried golden zucchini last year and loved them.. For one thing they are the prettiest vegetable I have ever seen.. Gold and deep green. They are like a cross between a yellow squash and a zucchini. If cooked with yellow squash you cannot tell a difference. Interior more squash like than zucchini. Will continue to plant these if I can get them. 2ofus,, can we get that fry bread recipe ? Sound good !
If it was grown from saved seed then it could have crossed with several things in the garden. Even pumpkins will cross with squash. No matter the cross,, all are still excellent eating.
Zucchini Fry Bread 2 cups grated zucchini (if frozen, thaw enough to break it apart easily but not totally) 1 cup Bisquick 1 egg diced onion-to taste 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese Mix all and spoon batter in lightly oiled hot skillet. Cook until nicely brown like a pancake on both sides. (A good bread for a diabetic.) T
Mart, I was just out at the garden yesterday, harvesting a strange looking squash! It is long like a zucchini but is greyish with dark green striping! It is from one of the transplants my friend gave me. I wonder what else will show up!?!
One year we plowed under squash, pumpkin, zucchini and whatever was left in the garden ,,,I had a rainbow of colors. Some were the same as yours a grey green, some had a pink tone. I think they were mixed with the pumpkins. They were so good. I tried to save seed but ,,,didn`t work. Thanks for the recipe ! Sounds great,,can`t wait to try it,
