The snow stopped about 2 pm and we got about 4 inches. I guess it won't last too long because it's going to work itself up to 40's by the weekend and a couple of 50's the beginning of next week. Brian went out and shoveled the front sidewalk, just to do it. The snowplow will probably be coming tonight or early in the morning. dooley

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -12°C and windy. We had a whopper of a snow storm overnight! It's almost 8:30 and the roads still haven't been plowed. All the school busses in all of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and surrounding areas are cancelled today. At least the sun is shining! It's going to take a while to dig out. Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently -18°C and overcast. For once I am thankful that we have overcast skies ... the clouds kept the temperature from dipping to the expected -24°C! We spent an hour shoveling snow yesterday, strategically piling snow in areas good for run off, as next weeks forecast calls for rain and warm temperatures. We do not want to get into a situation where flooding will occur. I'm off to do my errands and shopping. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Sunny, chilly and breezy this morning. Our forecast is for 70s all week.....guess I had better get out the gardening clothes and get busy before Summer moves in and chases me inside until October.

Our oldest daughter sent off her final assignment for her Master's Degree yesterday. 16 months, one ulcer type flair up and many, many late nights getting assignments done but it's all done now. She is toying with the idea of getting her Doctorate in a year or so......told her there is no way I will be calling her Dr. Lisa, she will have to settle for Dr. Sweetie at best.

Taking youngest daughter for (hopefully) her final physical therapy treatment on her hand and arm this morning. The best thing about these trips is that she and I have breakfast at Denny's afterward and get to sit and visit. We don't get to do that very often since she moved out of the house.

Almost finished with #3 Dr. Who scarf so I will be working on that why sitting in the waiting area. It's amazing that I am the only person there doing something besides playing with their iPhone or iPad.....the magazines there suck and the TV's are all showing sports analysis programs .... so I knit.
Then I am taking myself to Lowe's for some plant shopping and I need some soil for pots.

That is awesome Toni, congrats to your daughter!
Good Friday morning all. Currently -7°C and sunny. We were up bright and early for a skating lesson, now daughter is off to school and I am home doing chores. A busy weekend ahead so I am trying to do my weekend chores early. The sunshine is trying to entice me outside, but I will have to put on my blinders for a while. Have a great day all :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -6°C and clear. I was up bright and early this morning and out for my dog walk. Although it was cold, it really did feel like spring is in the air. We have lots of snow to melt, but next weeks mild forecast and rain should take care of most of it. Off to skating this morning, and then to pick up a juicer. Later, I have to take my son back to his dorm - spring break is over for him. Enjoy your day all :)

    Good morning all.

Hi, my name is Toni, I am a gardener and I have a problem......I bought 32 plants yesterday. Basil (2 kinds), Lavender, Snapdragons, Dianthus, Coleus, 6 different succulents, Tomato, Broccoli, packages of Caladium bulbs and Hosta roots. 5 bags of potting soil and a hose-end hand held watering wand (short and easy to hold a lot more comfy to hold than the really long one) and plant food.
But at least I haven't placed plant orders (except for the meatball Eggplant that should be here in a couple of weeks) and some seeds back in January.
We are most likely in for yet another long, dry, hot summer that I will not tolerate well (mentally or physically) but let the first big load of plants show up at the garden center and I am all over them.
    I need help.:worried:

Toni, you do not have a problem, but I agree you need help! Get Randy out into the garden to help you plant all of your goodies. It sounds as if you had a wonderful visit to a garden center (or two, or three?).
I've found those self-help, 12 step programs for recovering gardeners don't work. We all ended up talking plants, comparing soil, and generally having a great time. I think even the therapist became an avid gardener!

I wish I still had a place to garden. I did notice the garden centers are starting to set up shelving and counters for plants. It's getting warmer and should be warm enough to plant if you can cover them at night in case of a late frost. dooley

Dooley, it would be a shame to waste all the expertise and experience you and DR have. Is there not a community garden, or a church, or school that has space for you to plant?

    I don't see a problem Toni '
Good Sunday evening all. It was a lovely day, sunny and above freezing. It was also a busy day ... we were up bright and early at a skating competition (she won a silver!) , then a quick visit to my sister for my nephews birthday, and then home to pack and return my son to his dorm at school. I think I'm going to sleep well tonight!

Good Monday morning all. Currently 2°C and overcast. This is the first day of several very mild days in the forecast. It looks like it may rain, but that's OK ... it will help wash away all this snow! Busy weekend and so today I clean and catch up on things around the house. I may also start some seeds and my dahlia's inside this week, so I will need some soil and pots from the shed - IF I can get into the shed that is! Have a great day all :)
