So after my little nap today I tilled the garden. Then got bored. So I started digging around in the old shed and found some old car and bike parts. That building has a wealth of junk in it. I'll paint it tomorrow.
I like this! As it's a very healthy way of using one's own imagination - Wonderful! Do please post a picture of it a month later, when plants will be growing in it!
Goodies like that I call 'junque' it sounds more elegant. That's a great creation, what color are you going to paint it.
Either orange and green or orange and blue. Maybe with some black in there somewhere. Junque. I like that. Stealing the term from you.
I am a junquer from way back, our favorite weekend trips includes several of our favorite junque stores. When you make something useful and beautiful from it, it is no longer junk it becomes junque. We had a short term member a few years ago who berated me for spelling it that way, some people just have no imagination.
Daddy made extra money scrapping when I was little. He turned a lot of the junk he picked up into useable objects instead of scrapping it. I struck my first arc when I was six helping him make an ashtray out of two old steel toes and a sprocket. I'm sorry about that member getting into you. Some folks are overly opinionated and lack communication skills. If she's near se iowa I could smack her for ya. I'm pretty scrappy for a skinny girl. Y'all have been so nice here I don't see why anyone would get pissy.
And primed. I'm gonna take a little nap then paint. I had a couple links from that drive chain left so I welded them onto the rim as filler.
Thank you very much. I've thought about leaving work after things are paid off and just doing stuff like this for extra money. But I've always earned. I don't know if I would be happy staying home. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I'm just not sure it's for me. I could easily make you one. But I'd be willing to bet that shipping alone would be a more than the labor that went into making it. I could give you the dimensions and tell you the materials so maybe you can find a local welder to build it if you can't build it yourself.
I really like your 'one of a kind' planter! And kudos to you for knowing how to turn junk into junque! At our house, I come up with the ideas, and Mike makes them happen. Works for us.
Thank you. Here were both pretty mechanical. He is better with the mechanics stuff than I am though. And he will never admit it but I'm a better welder.
So I got that pot painted. But my friend was over today and he really wanted it. So he bought it. Now I need to make another one. He said it would make the perfect ashtray and beer holder for his back porch.
