Wow Philip you truly have your own microclimate! Are you able to grow plants from zones warmer than yours? Can you grow the warm season vegetables, like tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash, etc?
I stopped using Picasa because I can't choose the file size when I upload photos to it. The only way I can change the file size is after they're uploaded, requiring more key strokes and more work. I've been using Flickr for some time now, and I'm MUCH happier because I get to choose what size I want my photos to be when I upload them, and then voila! They're all the right size to use here and other places I post without any additional work. That's for photos from an external hosting site. For photos that are just on my desktop, I simply drag and drop, and there's not a need to resize those. Most of those photos though are taken with a cell phone, so they are sized automatically. But even those are around the 60 - 70 KB / 800x1000 pixels on my computer. Hmmm....curious.
Hi Cayuga Morning,..it really is a very warm garden,..i have grown just about everything from Banana Tree to Elephant Ear just to see could it be done,..trouble was come winter,..where do i store them,..in the end i had to find new homes for them,..the only plant i have failed with is Lavender,..i would need the right soil conditions instead of my moist soil. Banana Tree. Tigridia pavonia 'Mexican Shell Flower or Tiger Flower'. Video===Tigridia pavonia.
Ronni,..pictures loading and size are forever mentioned and a problem on Forums,..which program is best,..is what ever one you find that suits you,..i use Faststone Image Viewer,..it does about everything,..except resize in bulk,..which is a pain,..i need to keep the original size for making Videos but make copies for resizing,.. once a picture is reduced in size and you later need it in larger size its no good as clarity is lost. Flickr seems to be better than Faststone Image Viewer seeing one can choose the size you want when you upload them,..interesting,..i might give Flickr a try as i really need to have less click and less work.
I had a step in Greenhouse and it was good enough to start seeds for me plus overwinter some plants,..problem was,..every so often one of my cats would climb on to the shed overlooking the Greenhouse,..then jump on to the Greenhouse,..disaster,..the cat would start sliding off the Greenhouse claws would try to find a grip,..nothing doing,..so as the cat with claws extended slid down off the Greenhouse it ripped the plastic cover. Problem solved, i purchased a more solid Greenhouse,..roof opens,..sliding door includes. Still changing shelves around,..its full already. Purple Alyssum.
Hi Phillip. Long time no see. Your gardens are beautiful as always but your chats are better. Missed you.
Hi Donna,..yes i think about 22 Months,..i tend to wander,..i was the same as a child,..when i had little to do i would just wander off someplace I like your Cat Avatar,..that is one well fed Cat Meet 'Clara',..never smiles just likes to squint and stare.
Years ago i found a large square aluminium container,..the best position for it was right in the middle of the garden,..so i planted a Hydrangea in it,..it thrived,..too much as i had difficulty getting past it,..moved the Hydrangea,..stuck in a rose bush,..surrounded it with Sweet Alyssum,..beautiful sweet scent in the garden,..not contented with this i have added,..Aubrieta 'Kitte',..which should in time cascade down in between the Alyssum. Last of the Daffodils. Pulmonaria officinalis 'Lungworth'. Same blooms from this Hellebore at different stages. Helleborus niger 'Christmas Carol/Bears Foot'. First of the Columbine to bloom this season.
Thank you Cayuga Morning,..its a little beauty,..not to take from its beauty but when it first opened i suddenly thought it reminded me of a soft fried egg with the yoke broken,..just me and food of course,..Aquilegia are suddenly opening and i am hoping some red blooms will appear,..seeing the seeds were from Oregon
A light shower of rain today otherwise it was an enjoyable day,..Temps in the 60F. Tulips. Fruits on the Mahonia japonica,..ripe enough to add to Cereal,..bittersweet taste. Armeria maritima 'Armada Rose'. Hosta starting to appear.
