June 9th 2016.......Still very warm here,..no sign of rain despite heavy rain and thunder with lightning on the east coast temperatures still up in the high 80's F. Zantedeschia aethiopica 'Arum Lily'. That mystery large bulb and what its producing,..still looks like a big Arisaema speciosum 'Lepord Lily'. Rose ( Rosa Korresia ),..showing its three stages from bud to yellow then white.
Thank you!,..the blues have really shown up in the past few days,..sunny days work wonders. The first of the Delphiniums.
Fuchsia ( Fuchsia magellancia ) Thanks Jen,..the paths are getting smaller every few days as the plants move in,..and upwards,..its a jungle of flowers
Philip your garden is just bursting with colour. Mine is beginning to wilt in the heat (I know very strange for Scotland) as we haven't had rain for over a fortnight. We do try to keep it well watered but it tends to dry up again so quickly. I'm so glad your garden is looking so lush and beautiful and that you share it with us all.
Such great pictures Philip...I have a lab that is 12 years old, she will be 13 in August. She does not look as well as your 16 year old...Maybe if she had a place to swim and play she would be in better shape than she does now...most of her time is spent sleeping.
WOW...the fuchsia is beautiful, I have never seen any in that large of an area. It must be like living in a dream in your area...
The effort and thought you have put into your garden certainly shows to advantage! Simply lovely with colors textures, heights--so much to see and enjoy!
Eileen,..no rain for over a fortnight,..same here,.. and since March 25th the temperature was between 70F up to 33C-94F on 30th of May,..that's in the garden,..i don't wonder at your plants starting to wilt as it must be pretty warm in Scotland as well,..i use the hose every second day but also water the roots of plants like Hydrangea and Lavatera during the days i don't use the hose. My neighbor has a wall full of Centranthus ruber ' Red Valerian ',..it looks great and grows to about three foot high,..certainly doesn't need attention or watering,..of course i have acquired a rooted piece while passing under the wall lol,..as one should,..you must have it in Scotland as well,..originally from the Mediterranean but will survive in -15C.
Sherry,..i do like that Fuchsia despite it not being considered a real garden addition over here,..they grow in ditches alongside roads in most Counties so people tend to go for something more exotic,..my Fuchsia could be classed as bullet proof,..no matter the weather it survives. Ah your Lab and Molly do have something in common,..sleep,..Molly does sleep a lot though it could be from all the walking lol,..i noticed only last week that her hearing has failed,..they grow old so quick
Thanks Jane,..the garden and my sitting room are as one,..just step out the door and its garden,..sitting in the sitting room,.. its looking out at the garden,..so no escape,..not that i am complaining i like thinking garden. The Red Rose was a cutting taken last summer,..No ID.
Could be a record,..this Swan has eight Cygnets,..either her own or she took on some other Swans eggs or Cygnets.
There's something about cygnets that always makes me smile. I remember reading 'The Ugly Ducking' to my children and wondering why everyone thought the cygnet was ugly compared to a duckling. I think there's nothing nicer than seeing a swan family together.
As if i didn't have enough plants in the garden,..i was checking under the Hosta plants for Slugs,..thankfully none,..then noticed lots of,.. Digitalis 'Foxgloves',..so far i managed to pot quite a lot but still many pots to fill. Rose ( Rosa Laurie's Golden Orange ),..self grown,..self named.
