Hibiscus 'Woodbridge',..blooming better each day despite the fact we are one month into our Traditional Autumn,..the Meteorologists date is 21st of September. Tigridia pavonia 'Mexican Shell Flower/Tiger Flower,..producing a new surprise each day. Lace Hydrangea.
Hi Eileen,..i am always amazed at the difference between Scotland and Ireland where Seasons are concerned,..i am just beginning my second wave of roses to bloom and sometimes this wave produces bigger and far more blooms. Rose ( Rosa 'Laurie's Golden Orange'.)
Thank you Islandlife,..its hard to believe its our Traditional Autumn where blooms are concerned,..its also quite warm here. Rose ( Rosa ' Fond Memories ').
Hi Deanna,..the garden will look the better for your cleaning and cutting,..its just the thought of starting lol,..weather permitting i intend pruning back my big Fuchsia Tree,..then planting my Autumn/Winter Chrysanthemums the latter will take longer . Geraniums are still producing lots of colour indoor and outdoor plants. Rose ( Rosa 'Ice Cream' ) No ID Rose. Clematis 'Freckles'. Measuring 10 inches from tip to tip of bloom these were the biggest Lily i have ever grown.
Thank's Islandlife and Stratsmom . Half past one in the morning and its very warm here,..i was walking the dog tonight and was perspiring despite wearing a light shirt,..during the day it was 22C-70F. All images captured this week. No ID Rose. Rose ( Rosa 'Korresia' ). Rose ( Rosa ' Fond Memories ' ). Sweet Pea,..from Stratsmoms seeds.
I so enjoy seeing all the flowers you have in your garden. I just wish mine could look as good as yours at this time of year. I do have a large salvia blooming at the moment which the bees are thoroughly enjoying so at least that's something.
Eileen,..because my garden is fairly well walled in it tends to produce blooms well into Autumn and Winter,..some plants are not producing as many blooms just now,..Tigridia pavonia and Hollyhocks are two that should be finished by now but still showing colour. Salvia is very nice,..which colour do you have,..its a plant i have never had in the garden despite it being so attractive to Bee's,..and gardeners. A close up of Tigridia pavonia. No ID Rose. Hibiscus 'Woodbridge',..blooms turn more Pink and Red as the bloom matures. 'Clivia',.. and 'One Stem Yucca',.. enjoying the sun coming through the back window and door,..the 'Clivia' developed from a seed sent by Cayuga Morning. Last year i sowed some Coleus Seeds,..when Winter arrived i took several cuttings,..the plants from cuttings grew far bigger than the originals.
@Philip Nulty - Your coleus looks lovely. Any theories as to why the cuttings did better than the original?
Hi Islandlife,..The only answer i came up with was that the original plants were outdoors and were getting lots of rain where as the cuttings though started in the Greenhouse,.. were kept indoors and the soil was kept just moist,..i have since started new cuttings from the bigger plants,..thinking the strain is good. The Digitalis 'Foxgloves',..that self seeded and were move to one area of the garden have started blooming,..not very tall,..perhaps they may get bigger for next season. Arisaema Flower,..below,..the huge leaf it produces,..now some strange growth appearing above the surface,..not soft but as hard as a cone.
My salvia is pink Philip. I counted more than a dozen bees on it today even although it was dull and drizzling. Your coleus are really attractive colours. Do you allow them to flower? Some people say if they bloom then the colour of the leaves can be diminished.
