Has this ever happened to you?

The other day I went outside with only one small task in mind: cut deadheads off the rose bushes. Before I realized it, though, I was pulling nearby weeds. Eeek!

 

I go into a ROOM in the HOUSE with an intention of doing something and soon as a cross the threshold senior moment(s) strike and I don't have a clue WHY I went there in the first place.

 

Sherio, gardening tasks sneak up on you. I've gone out to check on the hens, and half an hour later realize I've been watering, weeding, and dead-heading, and the hens are still in the outside coop waiting for me to arrive!
Gardeners just can't keep their hands out of the flower/vegetable beds.
Islandlife, I attribute the "why am I here, and what did I expect to do" syndrome to having so much information in one's brain that some things just slip. It's called SuperIntelligence (at least around here it is).

 

Lord I am glad I am not the only one that does that. Or to put something where I will be sure to remember it and then forget where that place is !

 

I can say I've done all the above plus more...but I've forgotten what!

 

Haha Yup! Happens all the time!

 

Laughing here to myself,..the amount of times i left the garden to enter the house for something i needed,..got inside and couldn't remember what,..had to return to the garden to see would memory kick in,..sometimes it does,..other times perhaps the following day.

 

It is the most interesting phenomena to have a very solid thought and then to have it vanish. Usually the thought will just leave for its coffee break or walkabout but sometimes they do make a final exit never to be thought of again.

I sometimes urgently write a good idea down cause at least I can find my piece of paper again but usually important abstract ideas stay with me. The thoughts that most often leave my brain are the down to earth practical ones i.e. where did I put the keys, where did I leave my glasses, what did I get up to get?

I call this, considering the hereafter. I go somewhere to do something, and when I get there, I wonder. What in the hell am I here after?

 

FBG, that's the only "hereafter" I"m likely to achieve . . . .

 

yep... I was a bit worried. No need to do so now that I know i am as "normal" as the rest of you. oyvey. We need our heads examined!

 

I call it "Brain Fog " !

 

Does anyone ever experience that blank wall of absent memory, but the feeling of if I can just "look away" from it, the memory will return? And it does? Does anyone know what I am talking about?

 

Cayuga, I know exactly what you are talking about. When I'm trying hard to remember the name of a flower (or of my husband) I find if I stop trying it comes to me.
