Good morning. The weather guy has promised that today will be the final, last and absolute end of summer temperatures for this year and maybe until next April. Temp yesterday was 87, broke a long time record high of 86....oh boy the news of recording breaking temps just thrilled the beejeebers out of me when I heard it.

It was so beautiful out today that I almost left early. But I didn't. Instead I went to work when it was dark And got home when it was dark.

At least it's gonna be cold this weekend. :(

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 9°C and overcast with passing showers. Had a busy couple of days with my little skater, and also out in the yard. Today it is rainy and so there are indoor things that need doing. I also have garden carrots and squash to can, and cabbage to do something with. Also puppy seems to be demanding extra attention this morning. It might be an interesting day haha Have a great day all :)

One of my favorite days of the year--free dump day! The local county dump holds a free day twice a year--accepting almost anything that isn't toxic. We loaded the truck with bits and pieces from the barn and workshop, and I headed out early so I'd be first in line (that didn't work--I swear some of those folks must have camped out overnight). But, since all we had was wood, I got to leave the line and go to the separate wood site and unload. Met a nice gentleman who helped me unload and who wanted some of the wood for his stove. We chatted a bit, then I helped him unload. Around here you take whatever social occasion is offered!

Good morning all.....my favorite day of the year so far....woke up to 40 deg (4 deg C) and should be colder tomorrow morning. Had to turn on the heat this morning and while Randy got that done I stood in front of one of the vents to enjoy the first deep breath of the wonderful smell of winter this year. I don't think we even turned on the heater last winter. And we have a freeze warning for tonight/early tomorrow morning....I am so ready for this.

My favorite on-line yarn shop has a great sale going on for a few days...selected balls of yarn for $1.00 each and they are balls of almost 300 yards each. They have only their own brands but everything I have ordered from them over the years has been great so I have a good sized box of yarn coming next week. And it is coming with free shipping since my order total was enough to qualify for it.
So between the actual cold weather, the first smell of the heater for the season and a box of yarn coming my way....I am happy this morning.
Oh and after even more car repairs, our daughter's car passed vehicle inspection this morning so it's good for another year. I guess after our last house payment next year we start setting some aside to get her a newer car.

The weather took a turn for the worse Friday. It had been in the 60s and 70s. Dropped down to the 30s over the course of a couple hours.

Yesterday we said goodbye to an old friend. William(Preacher Bob) Marrow. FB_IMG_1478570074226.jpg

CJay, it's always sad to lose a friend, whether through the friend moving away, or passing away. I hope you remember the good times and those memories console you.

So sorry for your loss CJay.
Good Monday morning all. Currently -1°C with gale force winds. It has been blowing like this for 36 hours already and I just want the winds to stop!! Weatherman says winds will keep blowing for a while yet. I did some canning yesterday, and today I need to clean house. It's always so messy after the weekend. Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -3° and still windy, but at least the sun is shining. I'm having a lazy morning.
Lots to do, I just don't want to do any of it! Maybe I will do a little online browsing before the Black Friday sales start.
Have a great day all :)

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -9°C and sunny. We had a nice dog walk this morning with no wind!
I am getting increasing flustered with the local contractors today. We were waiting for someone to come hook up our new oil tank "first thing Monday morning". I have left 3 messages and still have not heard back. And yesterday, I waited all day for someone that was supposed to come over to remove the top of our tv tower, and re-adjust our internet dish. They called late in the day to re-schedule, but at least they called! I'm not waiting around for ANYONE today! Off to get ingredients for a birthday cheesecake and pick up a few things. Then I will be home baking and wrapping and planning my day tomorrow which I will spend with my family celebrating a birthday. Have a great day all :)

We had a light rain last night, so everything looks newly washed and rinsed for Thanksgiving! I'm going to be in the kitchen most of the day prepping for the big day tomorrow. My husband just sits at the kitchen island, breathing in the aromas and encouraging me!
I hope everyone in the USA, and others who celebrate Thanksgiving have a great holiday!

Good morning all. Been to the eye doctor for Randy's final post surgery check-up...his vision is 20/20 and eyeballs pressure is perfect. I am sorta, kinda, almost getting used to seeing him without glasses for everyday seeing.
Time to start baking and cooking. The turkey will go in the oven later this evening to slow cook overnight, the duck breasts will be cooked this evening but now I need to make deviled eggs, pumpkin pie, buttermilk pie and chocolate cookies. Thankfully I found gluten-free pie crusts at Natural Grocers so our almost granddaughter in law can have dessert too, she requested the buttermilk pie. And oldest daughter will have pie shells to make her wonderful turkey pot pies with the leftovers.

Hope everyone celebrating tomorrow will have a wonderful day with family and friends.

Good day all. Grey skies and 46° today. Had to work early this morning , and I was freaking out because I was left all by myself to do the donut and bread. I didnt know a darn thing about the donuts. Luckily, I was able to putter around prepping the bread (seasoning, scoring, misting, etc) until a coworker came in to work. Phew. I told my boss to never let them schedule me like that again haha

Now Im home, resting my feet while a pumpkin pie bakes, and we're going up to my sisters house later for dinner.

Good morning, afternoon, or evening fellow gardeners. All my beds are now down for a much needed winter rest. I have suffered from SAD a good part of my 60+ years on this spinning top. More so in my latter years. Anyone else have the same problem, and if so, how do you cope with it? I do have my bird feeders that can surely put a smile on my face from the antics of those cute winged critters, but still, it's just not enough. I like to go for walks too, and yet with the many years of heavy manual labor my body does not do well in the cold anymore. I really don't know where I'm going with this. Just thinking out loud I guess. Have a good day all.
