I kinda wonder IF the two of you stump sitting beer drinkers would understand each others accents!!! ;) :) The written word is one thing but the spoken another and since we're all sounding quite regionally different I wonder what the 'talk talk' between the two of you would sound like! ;) ;) ;)

@Islandlife HaHaHa! The only time I have been stateside was to a trade show in Chicago 20 years ago. I remember passing through immigration at O'Hare and the officer said "Love your accent". Coming from SE England we don't have too strong an accent so Cappy would understand me OK. Not sure if I would get him though with his Louisiana drawl.......be good to try though :)

Cajuns can get hard to understand. Especially when they get excited. Or mad.

IF Cappy is sporting a Cajun accent combined with knock off French based words he probably has the strongest accent of the bunch of us ;) :)

My strong cajun accent comes out when I am talking with another cajun or I have been drinking. Working on boats and running crews of varying accents has mellowed my accent and I am a good interperter twen folks who both speak english with ethnic variations I have actually had to tell a Cajun what a Red neck was saying and vice versa. This is an example of how I talk normally.

I was a tug boat Captain for 30 or more years till the local economy tanked and I lost my job. I aint sure if I am unemployed or retired I keep changing my mind. If the economy picks up who knows ai may go back to it. I truly loved my job.
