Hi everyone i new to this flower growing i just like to share a picture of my Zinnia California Giant seed that just came in today i can't wait to grow them. What you planting this year?
I have a 100 mini tulip and 100 mini narcissus bulbs to plant out in the garden. I'd better hurry though as most of my other bulbs are already a few inches out of the ground.
I'm not sure where you are located Flowerboi, but here in zone 5 I wouldn't plant Zinnia seeds until March, for planting outdoors in May.
We direct seed zinnias in our flower beds. Of course, we are in zone 8, and our soil warms up sufficiently by March that we can plant. Cal. Giants are one of my favorites--very reliable and extremely pretty. I bet you'd like the cactus-flowered variety, too!
thanks for the advice Netty, I am new to this flower growing and I was looking ithing till March too but till than ill be ready. nto it, see like i am in zone 6a (Detroit MI) and look like i can not do any nice, i wish that i can just plant them direct to flower beds less work for me lol.... hard work pay off
Where are you planning on growing them? In a pot? In your garden? Out front or out back? By a wall or in a central spot in your garden?
If you want nice big flowers you can't rush things. Starting too early in the north will only discourage you if you are just starting. Because Zinnias thrive in the heat. If you start them before the soil warms they are not going to be happy.
It's kind of early. If you have a good set up with the right environment, maybe... I like to plant Zinnia seeds directly in the ground when it warms up, they do great for me that way.
