And we're on the runway now!!!! One week to go, we leave next Monday! Paige has one corner of her bedroom piled high with all the stuff she needs to pack and bring. Because I'm driving their van while they fly, we can load it up with all kinds of things they wouldn't be able to take on the plane, so there are sand toys and beach bags and kites and all manner of fun things! Ed's not coming, sadly. His sister in law is having shoulder replacement surgery and the timing of that and their own travel plans just doesn't mesh with the timing of the disney trip, unfortunately. I will be getting together with my friends down there there, so that's fun! And on the way back I'll be getting a late start, because I have to drop the family off at the Orlando airport around 11.00 or so before getting on the road back home. I go through Atlanta enroute, and I have another friend there who I can stay with if I'm just too tired to make it another 4 hours home. Can't wait!
Yes I'm working on my route options with Ed's help. I'm not good with directions, interstates etc. Very challenged in that regard. And extremely grateful for google maps and real-time updates, info, traffic reports, construction delays etc.
Gosh Ronnie your excitement is catching!! I've got butterflies in my stomach just reading your post. You're going to have a wonderful time. Just be careful when driving as there are so many 'numpties' on the road these days. I'm already looking forward to your photographs and you telling us all about your trip and you haven't even left yet!!
Have a great time, mate. I am already counting the days til we get to see your pics and read some commentary.
So I have to share this photo. My daughter the mini-me! Here's how she packs: Yes, each of the kids' outfits is in its own ziploc, labeled with day of the week, and in some cases item of clothing too. And you think *I* am a control freak!!!
Meet another one like you and Paige. Everything has to be listed and spares have to be packed too just in case of weather changes. It makes everything so much easier when your away from home. You pick up a bag and everything is in for the day. No stress involved.
Oh yeah i really get this. I think in terms of contingencies and redundancies always. Drive some of my friend/family nuts because I'm always saying well what if this happens? Or I'll plan for that just in case. Or I'll bring an extra one because you just never know! They stop complaining pretty fast though when *I* happen to have the exact thing that THEY need that just broke, or got lost, or was rained on or whatever. HA! 2 days and counting.......and my lists get longer the closer we get to leaving and the more items are already crossed off!
It's good to know you arrives safely. That's some photograph and it brought a big grin to my face when I saw it. My first thought was 'That's definitely our Ronni.'
What an amazing vacation! The kids were in awe at Disney World! So much to see..so much to do! And then on to the beach. River had been to the beach once before but he was much younger, so only vaguely remembers. Lucy and Milo never had and Lucy in particular was hugely excited..she's the one who kept telling Mommy she wanted to go to the beach when Paige was planning this vacation! I drove 11 hours yesterday to get home, and was so happy to crawl into bed last night, after making a slight detour to pick up my dogs from Vee, a close friend and former roommate...I was driving right past her exit on the way home, so it seemed silly to not just jump off the freeway to collect them, especially because it's kinda far from the house, and I'd really rather not drive at all today. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking...... The kids were so excited to meet the various characters...so many different ones and I have photos of every one. But here are a couple highlights! And Lucy was beyond excited...she got to meet her most favorite character of all!!!! More in the next post...
So guys, I have a confession. Minnie and Goofy are my most favorite Disney Characters. And....and....I got propositioned by Goofy!!!! Oh my!!!! Be still my heart!!
