I have more or less confined myself to bed since last Sunday morning,..aches and pains in every joint,..shivering and perspiring,..weak legs and raving,..at the time i could well have thought it was Flu as over 20.000 people have Flu here since last Sunday week,..but the last time i had Flu or a cold was 38 years ago,..so as Doctors are giving the Flu vaccine they rule me out in case it would tamper with what ever is in my system that prevents me getting Colds and Flu,..what ever i have appears every now and then and lasts from 24 hours to 96 hours,..drinking Quinine has helped since the last episode,..enough said,..hopefully this episode will be gone soon.

Hey Philip...sorry to hear that you are under the weather.
How does the quinine work with helping cure you of the flu-like symptoms?
Do you take it to combat the pain or to directly combat the viral insulter's?

In the old days it was used in treating arthritis with reasonable success.

BTW--do you use the quinine in pill-form or in quinine water?

Have you ever been in a malarial area, this sounds like a relapse of Malaria, especially if you also get a splitting headache afterwards.

Hi Folks,..thank you for the best wishes,..finally out of bed today after 10 days,..weak as a new kitten though.

This was my first ever Flu,..and as mentioned neither Cold nor Flu for the past 38 years,..i did imagine it was a touch of Malaria which appears once in a blue moon and i have found that drinking Indian Tonic Water which contains Quinine helps keep it quiet.

Sjoerd and Odif,..yep you were certainly hitting the spot with your diagnosis of why i take quinine by way of Tonic Water,..i picked up something back in the 60's in the Democratic Republic Of Congo,..it tends to come and go fast enough,..just a bit of a bother.

Started eating last night,..food was not something i could look at,..scrambled egg was the start,..be back in action soon,..thankful for one small dog that stuck beside me for the ten days :)

I have malarial relapses sometimes. I used to spit out my antimalarials when I was a kid. They were too disgusting.

Wow @Philip Nulty Those roses are gorgeous. I'm thinking about planting roses on the side of my driveway in a long planting bed. I'll need to fence them in due to the aggressive deer in my area but man, what a beautiful site to see every morning.

Philip- Hated to hear that you were so sick. Seems the various germs are running rampant all over the globe. Just being out among others poses a threat of contracting some illness.
My grandkids get exposed to icky illnesses at the daycare.
We all need the fresh air and wonderful sun of SPRING !!
    Take good care!
