I was a cat person for years as i am allergic to dogs. Then, I saw a mini pincher with short hair and thought I might get away with this. Turns out I was fine yet still allergic to dogs that aren't this small.

My brother had a Poodle and these are supposed to be okay for people with allergies. He is okay but I am not. So anyone looking for another option could consider these little dogs.

Word of warning, are high energy and a bit yappie, so daily walks recommended.

Cj- They maybe Pigmy Goats. Just a thought. I love goats also and miss not having them around. But funds dictate no such animals at this time.

Coppice--would love to see a pic of them. My brother has two rag doll cats. As two can keep each other company when they are at work, and to play with.

Penny--yes quite a few breeds of the terrier family require a lot of exercise or playtime. Did you ever look at getting a Wheaten Terrier. They are suppose to be great dogs for people with allergies.

I love dogs. I had a dog at my house. It was a Labrador that I bought it from an exhibition. It was a very lovely dog and I really liked it very much. But last month it got dead after consuming the food with poison that some others kept for killing the stray dogs. I am very much sad about it:(. Now I am in search of a new dog.

I think I'm basically a dog person but this was my last old guy :) I always thought he was kinda lazy in the hunting department and would prefer to just wait for the birds to land in front of him.

IMG_6677.JPG I am definitely a dog person. We have a staffordshire bull terrier Molly. She's great with our baby and loves everyone in our family. But Have nothing against cats (just prefer dogs)

Roy--that is so sad about your dog being poisoned. I would think if you checked with your local humane officer or the DNR they would tell you that poisoning critters is illegal. That is really not a good way to deal with the situation as other animals can eat the poison bait, like your poor dog did. That would make me hopping MAD and I would probably turn the people into the authorities.
Why don't they live trap the dogs and take them to the humane society? If there is no humane society in the area there is always the Town Constable who will come and pick up a stray animal.

Island---that is a very cute cat. I love his white markings around his nose. I would have named him, Wishbone and that it what it looks like to me. YES, boy cats are not good mousers. Usually the female cats are the ones that hunt.

Eva-I also do like cats. But not to have as a pet.

Bigg--she looks so comfy on your sofa. Love her color. She sounds like a great pet and I love her name also. I had a Molly once and she was one of my favorite dogs.

I love both and last year a stray kitten came on the drive about 6mth old and skinny she looks half Bengal...well I started feeding her 3 - 4 times daily and she only took to dried food, then come September she became pregnant and disappeared then out the blue last month she reappeared as skinny as before, she'll let me stroke her but that's it...here's the best part hubby is washing his motor and see's her travelling in a neighbours door so she does belong to someone but because I love pets I feed her, although you can now get fined for feeding someone else's cats...it's classed as enticing them away apparently.

Well I called her minty at the time and still do not knowing she was a female :snicker:

Love all animals! I can remember cats and dogs in my house since I was 3 or 4. All of my pets are fat, sassy and spoiled rotten.

I will say I seem to be more attuned to the feline variety. You can tell by my screen name.

Hi @Catdaddy6676 that cat I called Minty is now pregnant again and a lady who comes past ours looked after them for the owner while on holiday and she was badly bitten with fleas, she's told the woman she's no longer going to feed them again if she goes on holiday...I think she's using them for breeding and selling and in the meantime they've got to look after themselves...such a shame...here she is the first year I fed her up.

Did have 5 at one stage, can't afford them now and took up too much time to walk them. But i did like having that many and they look so nice together.
    all five.jpg
At the back in order of age from right to left, Bramble, Logan, Moss.
Lying down from left, Willow and Bracken.
Moss when he was 5 had tumour in his jaw, had to have the front bit of his bottom jaw removed. He went on till he was 13. That's why his tongue used to stick out.
They all had different characters and loved to hold things
They were all related and Logan and moss were brothers but a years difference.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to update. We are currently staff/servants of three cats. Buddy, Cali, and Timi are all outdoor cats who were delivered (literally) in our workshop. Mamacat was wise--she put them into the equivalent of "cat heaven" here on our farm. They have been spayed/neutered, have their shots, and get fed on the porch next to their clean water bowl. We pick them up, carry them, cuddle them, provide treats, and give them pretty much anything they want. We are soooo easy!
