The solicitor probably earns daily, dragging feet is financially beneficial to them but not the client.

    This is great news, Palu.
I am very happy for you, but it is guarded happiness until we see what 18 march brings.

In theory, once contracts have been exchanged, it is very difficult to stop the procedure.

It is the same here...of course buyers or sellers can still back out of the contract...but the fine is so prohibitive that its cheaper to just go through with it.

House is full of cardboard boxes. The Removal company has been paid. Start packing on Monday after the family have been on Sunday. It probably will all go ahead now so uncross things.
Mind trying to sort our who will supply us with electricity and gas and paying our bill up to moving is proving a little on the complicated side.

This was a good update. I know what you mean with ending the utilities subscription. We paid what they asked and still got a "final bill" a couple of months after we had moved. But it all worked out in the end.
Mate, you ought to take some fotos when your space is full of packed boxes waiting for the movers. You will have "fun" looking back at the foto's a year after the moving experience. I can recall looking at our mountain of room-filling boxes and just being stunned at the amount of stuff we had even after a big radical throw-away. Just astounding.
Well we up-sized and now have some empty shelves in several rooms. My Bride tells me to sush when I mention it...saying it's bad luck. I suppose that she thinks that kabouters will come at night and fill them if we talk about the empty space too often. She cherishes empty cabinet space like it is some kind of luxury. :D
