I was just being silly Deana. I think earlier in this stream you were talking about how much you enjoyed your vines....I just wondered if they were grape vines or some other kind.

Yesterday I took my seedling babies outdoors from 12-6pm to begin the hardening process. Yes, it's a cruel world and the sooner they realize that, the better!

Lol! It was gorgeous and mid 70's at this time.

Yeah Catdaddy, tough love for plants! Ours have been in and out for three days, and tomorrow the tomatoes and peppers go into the ground.
We still have to put the weights on the apple and pear trees, and give them their spring fertilizer.

started in the greenhouse this morning. planted up tomatoes for an order.
    watered hanging baskets
    planted up more tomatoes.
visited with afriend for an hour
worked int eh garden and high tunnel cleaning it up. Kevn picked up all the prunings and made a pile 8' x8' of apple and grape prunings and I cleaned out the high tunnel of all the debris from last year. and then I burned it. it is all gone. I can't believe what a disaster last Fall was and here we are already time to get the high tunnel planted up again. we worked out there for 8 hours this afternoon cleaning up except the house it took for dinner. I need a shower. good night, now.

then worked in the greenhouse again for the rest of the day planting hanging baskets. another 50 and about 50 more to go and then on to transplanting tomatoes.

We get a late frost, so I hesitate to put out any fragile plants until middle May. I have a few rows of potatoes planted, several rows of onions, Spinach, Lettuce. Tomato seeds in potting soil. I love working outside this early Spring. Just right for not getting sweaty, but getting work done.

I was hedging my bets about the last frost down here by only planting half of my seedlings in case what my mother said was true (that the last frost is just before Easter). I potted up 6 each of burpless cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and spinach. Also had banana peppers for my wife. Used mushroom compost and mulched the surface of each container.

Biggest issue now is finding more soil as I have used 95% of what I prepared this spring!

Ok most of the garden is planted. Only 16 tomato this year. Becky complained at 32 last year. I fully made up for it with yellow squash though. Also planted okra and cucumbers. Becky still has a couple rows to plant her peppers and a unique trial or 3.

Well I worked on my fence and I strimmed. Once the clippings are dry after a couple of days, I will use it as mulch. I prepared a bed for strawberries.

It seems we're all anxious gardeners. Dirtymechanic, your post sounds rather like our gardening agreement. For years I did the gardening. Last year, "Himself" decided he could grow more and better tomatoes. Much to my chagrin, he did. :crying: However, the taste and abundance was SO good, I gladly gave him credit. This year he has plans to also grow peppers! I still have the greater part of our garden areas. I have onions looking healthy, spinach about half an inch tall, garlic is growing in leaps and bounds (After a bit of concern). Potatoes and Lettuce are in the ground awaiting warmer days. Black Krim tomato seeds are being watered beneath a Gro--light with faith that I will outshine "Himself" with his plants which he will buy at a local nursery.
    2019, here we come!

Oh my goodness! The way your rows are raised, perhaps they won't suffer provided the water drains off quickly. Is there a nearby drainage ditch of some type? Maybe you could put a hose into the water and let it run away from the garden. If you can get the end lower than the garden? I hope!
