Well we all have winter plants showing their best in autumn besides in the home and to see what members have would be delightful
Well January started off for me with the last of the Chrysanthemums in the greenhouse...... Then came the Schumbergera Now it's the turn of the Hippeastrum ( Amaryllis )...... Who says January is a dull, dreary, dark month ... ?
What a glorious show of plants for January...have ou ever tried doing the large round headed ones..as my uncle did a right business with them selling them for gravestones besides other special occasions and peoples homes.
These are the only two " Bloom Chrysanthemums " ( as they're called ) I've got. Just one plant of each kept us in cut flowers from September until November last year, then the smaller sprays took over. We got these from Poundland but this year I'm going to get some from Parkers as they do all six types ( early, mid and late sprays and early, mid and late blooms ). This should keep us going from July through to January.
Very nice I must say and lovely colours...my uncle used to bag the heads with brown paper bags and secure them with elastic bands but not to tight...apparently it helps them while opening up and stops any mites from destroying them...his front garden was plastered with them besides his back garden and he had one very long extended glass green house.
Your Salix is indeed looking quite smart. Those are such attractive elements to have in a garden. Wood that my garden were larger.
Thanks Sjoerd I have the two, the other is a bit small in roundness but the colour pink is bright this year..they need some heavy underneath growth removing as it helps generate them.
Well while I've not been to good..my lovely hubby while out found another new garden centre up the road and purchased for young Acers for £5-99 each and he's put them either side of my lions on the back garden and as they mature slowly I hope to overlock them in time.

Lace cap hydrangea, hybrid flamenco red hot pokers, mint plant, curry plant, Snapdragons, Cordyline flowering, Itea Virginica "Henry's Garnet", Imperata cylindrica grasses and Liatris which as doubled in size
Really nice pics Gail. I recognise a lot of old friends there. The lion looks like he's guarding the Acers. Is that a container full of mint I see there?
