What have you done today in the Garden?

it was half dry, so i put some in the microwave. so we could fill the cat toys.
it really works... put catnip in between paper towel, 1.5 mins in microwave, mix it up and add 30sec, mix it up and add 30sec, mix it up and add 30sec. you get dried catnip in less than 5 mins, but it sinks up the house.
not the best method, but very fast.
I think it smelled so much the cats got high. they where sniffing the air and meowing LOL

 

Picked flowers for a new thrifted vase and ate blueberries. Had my very first golden raspberry.

 

Picked the first lot of pink and white currants,before the sparrows eat them all.

 

Our shed door was showing its age, the bottom edge was rotting out, a wannabe-Momma squirrel was persistently trying to build a nest in the shed, she had gnawed the top edge of the door, the door handle no longer worked, etc We couldn't keep her out, a high wind whipped the door off its hinges etc. It was a mess.

So, we rehabbed it:. Prepare to be amazed!


What do you think of the door color?

 

I am not a fan of purple, except on rehabbed garden shed doors! Looks great, and you must be proud.

It will make a pretty picture if there are flowers around that area. It looks good!

 

This is my biggest single day harvest this season. Lotta peppers to get pickled!

today was very hot and humid, but I managed to get some work done in the garden.
I bought a trap and set it, in order to trap the groundhogs, fingers crossed there's a groundhog in there tomorrow.
I also fortified the fence by "stapling it to the ground" and put some dirt all around it, such that animals can simply squeeze under anymore.
while I was at it, I cut up some chicken wire fencing and tied it to the top of the fence, at the beginning and end of the garden, I'm thinking the spiky metal will help keep squirrels out.
by the end of it, my kid was saying that I was "building a base of terror" and that "the animals are just hungry". lol.

Are you sure you will not keep it and feed it capt'n crunch cereal? They are fun critters!

 

if it was up to the wife and kids, that's what would happen. but it'll do just fine in the park. (should i drive out to a proper forstest?? ) I live in the city and there's a "big" woody-walking-trial park nearby, i'm going to drop it off there.
if they love it so much, the wife & kids can go visit it there -_-

 

You will not want to hear this, but most State biologist publications from the fish and game side are going to say put the animal down. Transferring a wild creature away from its water sources, food sources and protective habitat will end badly for the animal but the human emotion side of things is falsely rewarding. Sorry bro.

 

it's against the by-laws to kill them here (which is probably why there's so many). it really doesn't have far to go to find someone else's garden & garden shed. and if it was me, i'd rather be dropped of in the middle of the woods then shot and killed. I won't sweat it, anyway, there's no more food of them here, the fence is now groundhog proof, so I'm doing them a favor, giving them 1 last meal, the bait in the trap, and sending them off to a new Adventure! it'll be fun for them. don't try and tell me otherwise. lmao.
