If it weren't for leftovers, we would go supperless four nights a week!

We had Roti lams last night. This is a roti (a flat bread sort)with lamb meat and veggies in a thick brown sauce.

We will have leftover chicken pot pie, leftover from the community garden potluck. It froze quite well & will be very welcome tonight. It has been a very cold and rainy day today.

Oh, nasi goring! We had it in the BVI at a lovely little restaurant in Bonaire. I loved it, but sadly have never been able to reproduce it here at home. Thank you for reminding me of a culinary delight!

Hiya MART-- Nasi goring is a form of fried rice,
Babi pangang is fried pork strips in a sauce,
Daging rudjak is a sort of beef stew with Indonesian flavour,
Daging kerrie is a stew with a curry flavour.
Sorry Mart, I had a difficult time trying to translate these dishes into English. We just know them by their Indonesian names.

You are welcome, JANE--I am glad that you liked the dish.

Sjoerd, is Babi Pangang also known as "Satay"? We had Satay in the BVI and it was delicious. The sauce was a peanut sauce, and anyone who doesn't think pork and peanuts go together hasn't had Satay! A very rich dish, but oh, so very tasty.

MART--I am glad that I could make them understandable for you.

JANE--Babi Pangang is not the same as satay. Satay is small pieces of chicken or pork on a wooded skewer that has been cooked over coals and then submerged in a thick peanut sauce.
Babi Pangang is cooked pork in a sweet and sour tomato-ginger sauce.....also very tasty, I might add. hahaha.

I do not think the person doing the article is Indonesian or Dutch, but it gives you an idea.

Pork tenderloin medallions with roasted multicolored baby carrots with tarragon and sauteed zucchini. Delicious. My husband (the family chef) took the night off from cooking, so I stepped in and did myself proud.
