The stuff that ends up in the tip for which I posted a photo, can be all sorts, it will include a lot of shrubbery in fact any sort of green stuff from your garden will end up here. They don't actually make compost, they mince it up in a shredder and send it to a recycling company who process it and they have to pay for the privilege.

The recycling Co. may create those blocks of compost and sell
    it to gardeners.

Finally some real gardening to report from here--We began working on the greenhouse and gleaned it up. Next stage will be to remove and replace the soil in there.
We also ordered our seeds and will be able to pick them up in march. That will give me enough time to chit before dropping them in the ground.

I cleaned house--it was either clean or plant vegetables in the corners and on the table tops! I did get out to stir the compost a bit and then add chicken manure from cleaning the coops this morning. This seems to be my day for cleaning!

It was a golf day today, so nothing done in the garden, I might give the lawn a light feed tomorrow.

I've still some tidying of some wiring in the garage. I'm going to put some more in some trunking.

Somebody on another forum was asking about pond turtles. I thought of you.

The snow is still too deep for gardening here.
I'm thinking of hauling out the Gro-light and growing
    some MIcro-greens.
Has anyone grown or considered growing Hemp hearts?
I have been learning of the benefits and am determined
to try some this summer. The plants require little care,
and they are said to be beneficial to the soil. Also to
    our diet.

Oh my, do I feel wise. Apparently I'm the only one who knows Hemp.
While I'm not educated in the growing of Hemp, I do know that Hemp hearts (What we get when we take the shell off, like we do with beans
are beneficial to our health. I have to google stuff when I need information.
We ordered 8 or 9 ounces of Hemp hearts and will use them in smoothies, soup, salads, etc.
Hemp is a plant, sort of like grain, requires less water and care than other crops, is beneficial to the soil, the seeds are harvested and
the hearts are shelled out for eating.
Hemp is even used in building in some places. I need to educate myself.
It has a lemony scent too.

Lol  we found the love child! So is this the skinned pith of a standard hemp plant?

:) Now you tell me! I'm assuming it is. I really want to eat as clean as possible and healthy, grow my own if possible. If I owned my own land, I probably would grow Marijuana, not for smoking, for oil or chocolate brownies. I have a deep distrust of pharmaceuticals. A few may be lifesaving, but I usually get a bad reaction.

Too wet to do much, anyway I had a lot of Australian Open Tennis to watch I'd recorded overnight.

But I did one small job.

We've got a problem with a cat that keeps coming over the back fence and making its way down the side of the garden to hide in the azaleas next to the patio, then pounce on any of the ground feeding birds for which we put out food.

At dusk it can avoid the two PIR security lights on the corner of the shed and the corner of the garage that covers the patio.
The birds can cope with the cat during the day as it's easy to see even in the packed branches of the azaleas. But the late evening feeders can't, so well.

So I put another security light on the side of the tea-house to hopefully catch it if it comes over. It may not deter it, but at least there's a chance my wife will see it as she's usually in the lounge and can see the bottom of the garden from her chair and she'll be able to frighten it off..

Anyway, it was only six quid from my local electrical wholesaler, (how do these Chinese do it for the money?) Just a couple of screws, a hole drilled in the wall of the tea-house and the cable plugged in to one of the spare sockets on that side of the room.

I also had to re-fix the end of the gutter where it joins the downpipe. This gutter collects the water off the back of the tea-house roof, to prevent it running down and rotting our back fence. I think the cat has been standing on it when it comes over.
