@carolyn. I guess it would be the brick terrace cannibalizing the brick walk in order to fill it's empty stomach/hole.

PS thanks for the proper spelling!

I raked grass cuttings and turned compost. I weeded fed watered and mulched courgettes.

I admired the flowers including this beautiful gladiolus.

Not this one, but another one is 1,59 m tall.

Not a day to do anything as it was raining on and off all day. I've more wisteria to prune, there's a chance it'll be dry tomorrow, but it's a golf day so it'll have to wait until the afternoon. The lawn could do with a cut too.

I picked zucchini and crookneck squash, cucumbers, and some Roma tomatoes. I'll pack up the squash and cucumbers for the food pantry, but I'm making tomato/basil butter with the Romas. I know, it's selfish, but the tomato/basil butter is so darned good on pasta or broiled fish. Not bad on beef, either!

I wrapped the cucumber tendrils around their trellising. They grow up so fast! Soon they'll be moving up the trellis (even more) and having little pickling cucumbers! The one potato that was blooming is now losing the flowers and the plants are starting to die. I won't be doing watering today. We're suppose to have thunder storms later. There was a bit of rain while I was trellising the cucumbers but just spitting. I think I'm going to order a soaker hose so it can just stay in the garden and I just have to unhook the hose and move it from the main garden to the vining garden. Hmm; why are soaker and vining coming up as misspelled?

Oh! I forgot to mention that I made clover blossom jelly yesterday. And my neighbor told me she has honeysuckle out back and I can have the blossoms to make honeysuckle blossom jelly before she tears them out. They are the invasive type so she wants them out!

Sourced some bricks to finish my brick walk, but on the way over, the skies opened up in a deluge
    so
I called and cancelled. Instead I went to the Community Garden, fool that I am to deal with the voles.
We are having A Terrible Time with Voles. (Such a
terrible time that it does deserve to be capitalized.)

I have set traps and most were sprung without catching anything. I actually think it was the rain that sprung them.
. So, in the pouring rain, I reset 6 traps. Fingers crossed. The Community Garden website has been abuzz with complaints about voles, strategies for combating them, reports of successes and failures in dealing with them. We seem to be an opinionated lot and very passionate about our veggies being set upon by voles.

Anyone here want to weigh in with advice about How To Deal With The Dreaded Voles?

Odif--mate, you could feed an army with all those courgettes ! Tidy-looking plot. Lovely-looking glads, BTW.

Well Cayu-- That was quite a tale-- A Tale Of Two Projects. Sorry to hear about your vole problem. They are so difficult to deal with.

Lots of work in our lottie. I shall write about it in an apart thread.
A couple of days ago we mowed the grass paths.
I will need to go into the bees tomorrow, fingers crossed that it will not rain.

That's the problem with bricks, sometimes retailers change their suppliers or lines get discontinued.
For our border, I bought blockpaving bricks from B&Q. A couple of weeks later I decided to do the same with features in the lawn. I went back to B&Q for more but what they had werea slightly different colour, but fortunately the same size, so they don't really notice. I guess sometimes it's a bit like wallpaper shades.

We were lucky with our bathroom tiles. We had the whole bathroom re-tiled in 2002 with big Spanish tiles. Then ten years later we decided to have the bath taken out and have a walk-in shower. I'd kept a box of tiles but there weren't enough to cover where the bath had been. The original ones came from Topps. So armed with the box label I went in there, (before the contractor started working). They scoured all their branches and found enough to complete the job. They matched perfectly.

    You lucked out Dog, twice!

I picked up the bricks today from a neighbor in town. I should be able to finish our brick walk within a day or two. It keeps raining here...after a drought of 2-3 weeks so I am not complaining.

I was wondering why you didn't take bricks from the side to fill the centre and then use the extra bricks for the edge--heck the odd-looking bricks would have covered by the Alcemilla anyhow. Nevermind. Your work looks prima and is such a good place for socializing.

I walked out back to put food out for the colony of stray cats living out there and got back inside just as the first trickle of sweat (you do not perspire in Texas this time of year you SWEAT) started it's journey down the middle of my back.

Toni, I agree--horses and Texans sweat, and ladies of a certain young age "glow". I haven't "glowed" for years!
I didn't do much in the garden except water the container herbs, and take a bag of squash and a bag of cucumbers into town. I had intended the vegetables for the local food pantry, but they are temporarily closed (don't know why) so I dropped them off at the feed store while getting chicken feed. The feed store guys were so happy to get the veggies--they work long hours every day but Sunday, and just don't have time to grow vegetables.
