Actually Ron makes our bed most of the time. He says it gives him a feeling of a definitive start to his day, the same way a morning shower does for me.

    What about you?

We make our bed every morning. It looks so much more inviting that way at bedtime. And if you don't put it to rights in the am, it tends to get all scallywompus during the night!

    Making my own bed???

This phrase does ring a bell somewhere in my mind. But it's such a distant memory, that I'm having trouble picturing it...

Doesn't everybody nowadays sleep wherever they drop? Like in front of the TV with an open bag of chips or popcorn scattered all over them? Or face down over their computer keyboard? How about the universally excepted way of sleeping while hunched over the steering wheel of one's car?

I mean it's the year 2020, so I am a bit astonished that forgotten concepts like "making your own bed" are still practiced today...

Or am I doing something wrong?

I can't leave our bedroom until the bed is made. It's something I've always done and I can't see me changing now.

With fitted sheets and just a summer duvet, what is there to making beds?

    Now let's talk about ironing.

There's a "rule" in this house that if you're daft enough to buy anything that needs ironing, then you iron it yourself.
My wife's clothes go in the tumble dryer and she takes them out at just the right time and then hangs them up and they end up crease free.

My "scruff" comes out of the dryer creased and stays that way.

I iron my cotton Ben Sherman's, probably at least half a dozen at a go. I apply a touch of spray starch, to the collars. I've over a couple of dozen of them both short and long sleeve, all button down collars (it's still, 1960s for me). Some of my shirts must be over 20 years old. But still in perfect condition as individually, they don't get a lot of wear. I also iron my Chinos and press trousers after an occasional wearing.

Now who irons fitted sheets and duvet covers?

No one in our house, they are just hung up after coming out of the tumble dryer. Then put away in the linen cupboard until required. They look OK when they come out next time.

I make the bed every single morning. I can't stand looking in and seeing an unmade bed!

Nope. And, tbh, I read that making your bed is actually a good way to grow bacteria in your sheets. So I only straighten out the sheets right before I get in :D

Listening to some of the people here. I now might actually consider making my own bed. But the trouble is, when it's time to sleep, I always drop somewhere else, (before reaching the bed).

Sometimes I wake up under my car, without any clue how I got there... Then after a few moments I recall that I was working on my car, and so must have fallen asleep during that.

Take this morning for example, where I woke up in the shower. I am still not clear about how I got there. But the first thing I saw as soon as I woke up, was water circling the shower drain...

I am not yet sure, but I'm now starting to suspect that I might actually be living a Doctor jekyll and Mister Hyde kind of a life.

    Further investigation is called for!

I’ve heard the same. To that end we don’t make the bed right away. We’re very early risers so we have lots of time before we have to leave. We get up, usually around 5.30, and throw the sheet and covers back so that they’re draped over the bottom half of the bed.

Then we go get coffee, sit on the porch sipping and catching up on the news, Ron might have a second cup. Then we unload the dishwasher, feed the animals, make our lunches, Maybe other bits and bobs, shower and get dressed. Only then does the bed get made so it’s had 2-3 hours to air out.

We make the bed every day; but not in the morning, usually around noon so that the bed can
"air-out" and the heat our bodies caused has cooled .
