How did you choose your username?

Makes sense to me, Northerner!

 

Well I just wanted to use Gail being my name but that was in use and brains my other half came up with the next name...it's not hard to work out

 

Mine was chosen because I love Growing food, even though it sometimes is a Pain.

 

Hi everyone! My first post on GardenStew. My username was one of my many nicknames I had in college. I try to keep some version of it in all of my online forums/communities.

We have golden retrievers and one was called Logan, he's gone now, but he used to follow me everywhere, if he could.

 

Dirtmechanic is just a description of the 2 major things I deal with whilst growing plants. It was not a creative choice, just a descriptive synergy.

 

. I was enlisted and was just a swabby like most of the people in there. But as a user name it is kind of unique and I haven't run into anyone else with it!

I've used it on message boards since the days of "Napster" the old music file sharing site. So for over 20 years.

The girl is Martha Vickers playing Carmen Sternwood, a "wild child" and a bit of an addict. She was 21 at the time.

It is said that her best scenes in this film ended up on the cutting room floor, as the studio wanted to promote Lauren Bacall who by the time the film was released and an extra scene added six months after the film had originally been completed, Bogart had got a divorce and he and Bacall had married.

I thought Vickers was always the better actress. She made about 20 films then went into TV drama. Died from cancer at age 46.


This is the added scene between Bogart and Bacall, they'd married before this was added. It was to "cash in" on their relationship, as their marriage was big news at the time.

I was born ( 1942 ) in a tough area of Liverpool ( Toxteth - Princes Park ) you had to be really street wise as a child. We used to be in small gangs of five or six and gave each other nick names. Mine was Mego. We even communicated in our own language called Back Slang so no one knew what we were speaking about. oh, to have those days again just after the war
