It's been a while since I've posted any photos - mainly because my computer has stopped loading the photos off my iPhone - I just haven't had the time to figure it all out! I just figured out that I can email myself photos to post, although I'm not sure whats up with the black parts of some of the photos. I'll have to sit down one day and figure it all out. In the meantime, here's a few pictures I took while strolling through the gardens. The veggie garden is doing well. I put in 6 raised beds last fall in half the garden and the other half is still in the ground. In the raised beds I have onions, carrots, radish, turnip, beets, spinach, peppers, cucumbers, squash and some tomatoes. In ground I have garlic, zucchini, patty pan, beans, asparagus, peas, 3 rows of tomatoes, black currents, rhubarb, and some herbs. I have kale, kohlrabi, basil, swiss chard, tomatillo, and cucamelons. Sargent loves coming out to the garden with me. You can see him resting on the right. ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) It was a great year for asparagus ... we ate to our hearts content and also froze a lot. I had a great crop of spinach until the heat wave hit. Here's my grandson 'helping' with the spinach. ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Peas are almost ready now, and we did sneak a few of the first ones ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Garlic scapes are one of my favourite things to use in potatoe salad, and yesterday I made some pesto for the first time. YUM! ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Moving towards the back flower gardens My Mothers Peony was spectacular this year ... it had over 200 flower buds on it Another new favourite of mine is 'Adrienne' A few lilys This Rose was a gift from my son last year This little fairy house was a birthday gift from my daughter this year. I made a little garden in a planter for it with miniature hostas and some marigold and little zinnias. This was the early the first morning after I planted it So much happening in the gardens right now, I'll try to be better about posting
My stars, your gardens are spectacular! I can't believe you take care of all of those all by yourself. Thank you for sharing your gardens, and for inspiring us to get out there and garden, garden, garden!
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed seeing these pics. You have such a wonderful garden. Your veggie plots look great and so tidy. Great peas and scapes. Yum. Your borders and variety of flowering plants are stunning. Jeepers, I wish that I could have a border. The peony's are especially nice and the open red one, is especially attractive to me. The rose melts my heart. Cute little garden scene that you made. I see several flowers that I have as well, All-in-all-- a super posting of a super garden !
Netty, I am extremely impressed. If I worked all the live-long day my flowers and veggies wouldn't look as great as yours. You must be very tired when your head hits the pillow at night.
I just had another gander at your foto’s. I concentrated on the flowers. The borders and individual participants. There are some breathtaking beauties there. You folks must be the talk of the town when blooming is going on at your home.
Thanks! It's -9°C out today and I miss my gardens already Because of the rural area where we live, no one sees my gardens unless they come up our LONG driveway and step into the back yard. A hidden garden in a sense. But it brings me great joy. And yes growingpains, I sleep well after a full day
Your place sounds really nice. Sort of idyllic, I’d say. You were spot on hen you pointed out that the bottom line of every garden, or growing situation is that it is first and foremost for the gardener.
Netty, I like the fact that you and yours are foremost the ones who enjoy your flowers and landscaping. We plant along the creek /roadside and anyone driving or walking past can enjoy the flowers. I'm not too happy when someone stops and picks the Lilacs. They should be there for everyone to see, but that's just me. The veggie gardens are for us first, then to share.
