@Growingpains Kellogg's are a new one for me too. It is a yellow tomato that I'm trying because it has a sweeter taste that even a tomato hater will like it according to some people. Going to put that to the test on my picky eating daughters. LOL

Carolyn, I hadn't thought of it from that perspective. Growing
a couple for myself differs greatly from creating them for sale.
    Plus those seeds not available.

Sjoerd, there is an ointment which helps with sore muscle relief.
I remember when farmers used Horse liniment. I think it smelled
    rather harsh!
Today we did begin cleanup of the debris left over from winter.
The garden plots will soon be ready for color and veggies.

Clay, I'm one of those folks who love tomatoes with high acid taste.
Sweet tomatoes are good for some dishes, but for sandwiches and'just eating, I like high acid.

Preserved by our friend Darrell Kellogg, a railroad supervisor from Redford, Michigan. Its fruit is very flavorful and superbly sweet!
    • Large orange beefsteak fruits grow to 1-2 pounds
    • Rich flavor with good acid to sugar balance
    • Very productive
    • Indeterminate - Fruit ripens throughout the season
    • 80-90 days from transplant
This delicious heirloom originated in West Virginia. A favorite of Dr. Carolyn Male, author of “101 Heirloom Tomatoes.” tomato-kelloggs-breakfast-lss-000_8822.jpg

kellogs is a fabulous tomato right up next to Sweet Ozark Orange which I am sure NO ONE has heard of. I got free seeds from someone on a tomato site and I save them every year to grow... they are FABULOUS!

I'm a bit strange in that I think tomatoes must be red. Seriously, I reckon yellow tomatoes are OK.
I forgot to mention that I planted spinach this morning. Our garden soil feels so good, I doubt it needs any additives. Maybe crushed egg shells around the tomato plants.

@Growingpains , Often people request yellow tomatoes because they THINK there is no or at least they are low acid tomatoes... nope. they have acid but they have more sugar than red tomatoes and therefore seem less acidic.

Found some tomatoes dead in the tunnel yesterday. Frosts. Luckily I brought the others inside. I also harvested 2 asparagus spears.

Clay, in past gardens we have grown several types. We're now
rather decided to go with perhaps three varieties.
The spinach will be in a protected area and covered if frost threatens.
Odif, sad that you lost even one. One year, we had frost in early May
    and lost our tomato plants.

Today I dug and transplanted strawberries and
Mulched with woodchips. I brought the tomatoes inside this morning and already three more have come out. Any when the moon changes, I will plant more.
