With the horrid weather we've had for the past month or more, I haven't been weeding the garlic as I should. However, today was balmy, so I got the bed weeded and, despite the weed competition, freezing temperatures, and snow, our garlic is looking good. There is some freeze burn on the leaves, but there are still green leaves, sturdy stalks, and I hope nice bulbs forming.
I took the broccoli sets out to harden off, and tomorrow I'll prep the onion bed with compost and get ready to plant onions.

Did some cleaning up of the sins of winter. A lot more to do but the snow hasn't melted yet.

    My cardoons have sprouted.

The first broad-bean came up two days ago. Today there are more. These were old seeds, so I am a bit surprised at the germination rate. I‘ll take it though.

Great to hear that your Cardoons are up, Cayu. Do you have a piccy? When I grew them, I was always so amazed how a great giant of a plant can spring from from such a small seedling. The nature of Nature is cool that way.

    Well done, you.

I dug and lugged compost for the raised beds. I had about one more "lug" left in me and it started to rain. Thank you Mother Nature! Now I don't feel guilty about quitting.:smt109

Odif, I have done nothing in the garden today. I will
soon begin planting tomato seeds in little pots,
lettuce seed in the garden. It's still cold enough to
keep me from setting out any plants.
Am I alone with desire to read some of the books written by
a woman who never dug in her garden, yet grew all the food
    she needed?

Indeed she does, Sjoerd. That's how I learned she existed.
A bit of a surprise that she preferred gardening sans clothes.

Sounds exciting, Dianne. We're doing little chores so we aren't worn out
    when planting time rolls around.

Understand fully, I did my spring cleaning during the Winter Months knowing I need to pace myself better, or end not doing the important things in the Garden, we have just taken on a small plot of adjoining Land, just so nobody can build a house on it and spoil our peace.

Planted red onions today, with help from a cat. Timi likes to roll around in freshly turned soil. Sure made for some strange furrows! Got those straightened out and the sets in before the wind came up and blew the onion sets into the garlic rows.

I spent half an hour in the garden, practicing on the lawn with my pitching wedge, got to get ready for golf starting again at the end of the month.

Dianne, I admit to being envious of your extra land. I could live in a small house just to have acreage. How blessed you are, I'm glad for you.
MG, red onions sound good. I plan to grow yellow onions, hopefully.
    Doghouse, keep on swingin!

Jane, have you completed your lugging?
How many raised beds in operation will you have when your work is finished?

I ran the strimmer and with new blades cut the lawn for the first time. I managed to find 4 nicely shaped rose roots for sale and brought them home. I will plant them in terra cotta pots tomorrow, and get the garden tilled.
