Tonight we had japanese-style meatballs, rice and "roasted" broccoli... our roommate (who does all the cooking) still isnt used to roasting vegs, even after he's been here a year. He doesnt bake them nearly long enough. And tomorrow, as it's my birthday, I requested crispy pork, rice and potstickers. And I'm going to bake a chocolate cake (I prefer making my own cake haha)

Spiral cut ham soup with masa cornbread. The soup recipe uses hominy so the theme was nixtamalized corn. I wonder about 2 things. Since the nixtamalized corn flour is called masa, and nixtamal is a name for hominy, are tamales named after the flour source and could I convince DW to try steamed hominy as tamales are steamed in corn shucks. I have been on a steamer cooked food kick lately.

Shepherds Pie with lashings of naughty cheese, browned nicely on top...In true political correctness.. brought about by an ex-pat know it all type..It is really Cottage Pie as Shepherds apparently should be made with left over lamb...I use minced beef so therefore not to confuse anybody...it is correctly re- named Cottage Pie...smells good from the Kitchen...
